You are as quick as a shooting star flashing across the night sky.
You are the vast distance between love and hate.
You are a golden tree in autumn with brown, crispy leaves falling.
You are as dull and sad as a grey elephant on a cloudy, thundery day.
You are the smell of fresh roses in a colourful, antique vase.
You are the taste of dripping butter melting on a warm piece of toast.
You are August, a hot summer day.
You are a Sunday, lazy lie-ins and precious time with family.
You are the hypnotic eye of a glittering supernova showering the clear night sky with your brightly shining light.
I loved your use of adjectives here ‘You are a Sunday, lazy lie-ins and precious time with family.’ You really encapsulated the meaning of Sundays for me here! I loved how you used a range of poetic features also- metaphors, personification, similes.
Could you have included onomatopoeia somewhere also?
I loved how the adjectives you used in this line really helped to capture the essence of Sundays- ‘You are a Sunday, lazy lie-ins and precious time with family.’ Precious yet lazy sum it up beautifully! You also used a range of poetic devices within the poem- metaphors, similes, and personification!
