The Water Pegasus

The Water Pegasus

Most unicorns are land animals but interestingly not this particular type. Have you ever heard of the Water Pegasus? It is a most fascinating type of unicorn and can even breathe underwater.

The Water Pegasus, which cannot survive in temperatures above 30 degrees has to be near water. This is because it cannot go half an hour without going into water. Their favourite habitats are swampy areas and beaches. However, in the summer months, they migrate up rivers to the cooler, swampy areas.

If you want to spot one of these creatures you have to know what they look like first. Amazingly, The Water Pegasus, which has diamond – silver wings and a Narwhal – like sapphire – blue horn, also has horse – like hooves to cut into the emerald – green meadows. In addition, it has a colourful, rainbow tail that dances in the wind. Around their torso area, they have a big meaty patch which might be why they have been hunted in the past.

The Water Pegasus, which needs lots of food to survive, tends to enjoy eating plants, snails and crabs. Furthermore, this is suited perfectly to their habitats because in swampy areas there are lots of plants and snails and on beaches there are lots of crabs. When they are living on beaches, they have also been known to eat small fish but this clearly isn’t their first choice. Perhaps, they might have similar taste buds to humans.

Everyone likes to have fun, these creatures are sure no exception. Interestingly, these creatures find many ways to have fun including: Jumping on lily pads, climbing trees and swimming. You would think these hobbies would be weird for a normal unicorn but remember the Water Pegasus is not a normal unicorn.

What can you do to help this species of unicorn? Scientists say that if you know one is in the local area you should keep it a secret. Also, if the Water Pegasus jumps up don’t scream for three reasons: 1. They could think their babies were in trouble and become aggressive,2. They randomly jump up from time to time,3. They could be trying to climb a nearby tree. Let’s keep these animals safe for future generations.
