Orchid Flowers

Orchid flowers sleep like babies,

Using it’s chartreuse green stem as a bed.

It’s venerable roots pierce itself into the oily soil,

As it crumbles away like expired apple pie.

The orchid’s petals are like tiny snowflakes,

Landing gently onto the edge of the pot.

It’s leaves hang restlessly over the thin stem,

Like Christmas ornaments hanging over the Christmas tree.
