The 5 senses

The 5 senses

I would take

the silk of a golden eagle’s feathers gliding through the air,

a yellow chocolate bar sleeping on my windowsill.

and the bark of the majestic next doors neighbour’s dog.

I would take the smell

of baked cookies straight from the oven in the kitchen,

the smell of sizzling sausages grilling on the barbecue

and the smell on apple pie cooling on the glass table.

I would take

the sound of the heavy rain as it bounces on my tent,

the sound of my little sister laugh.

and snow crackling beneath my feet.

I would take the touch

of a fully blanket on the windowsill.

the touch of a teddy bear.

and the touch of my dad’s jumper on a cold winter’s night.
