The Skyship adventure

In my rucksack I would bring…

An old frayed satin invisibility cloak,

So that I can,

Sneak past the eerie villagers.

A crinkled torn parchment map,

So that it can,

Lead me to the old dreaded dragons.

The golden goblet of fire,

So that it will,

Scare the dragons away from me when the fire blazes.

The shining silver time turner necklace,

So that I can,

Turn back time and accomplish something I have not yet done.

A precious portal making pearl,

So that I can,

Teleport to my Skyship if I get lost.

A red never ending lunchbox.

So that I will,

Never run out of any food or water.

An enchanting leather book with endless pages,

So that I can,

Send help, but the book has to be used wisely.

A magnificent beautiful phoenix with healing tears,

So that it will,

Heal any wounds or injuries.

A magical bird keyring that will turn into a real Bald Eagle with two taps

So that I can,

Fly away on the bird from danger.

An eyelash from an Alicorn,

So that I have,

Never ending wishes and I can use them only in times when I need them.

A medium sized grey hippogriff’s feather,

To use as,

A quill for the leather enchanted book.

An underwater breathing potion,

So that I can,

Swim away if I crash land in the sea.

And,

Teleporting dragon food,

So that when the old dragons eat it,

They get teleported to somewhere distant,

So I can take their glorious treasure.

Ferocious Dragon

The dragon is soring through the midnight sky,

with red fiery flames lighting up the countryside,

I am trembling with fear,

Until he flies like lightning to his next destination.

You Are

You are a Macaw parrot
dancing like Shakira in the Amazon Jungle.

You are a fabulous, flamboyant flamingo
flapping your bright pink wings,
like a fast fish
swimming away from a hungry shark.

You are the seasoning in a delicious
bowl of potato soup.

You are a bright star,
shimmering in the clear night sky.

You are

You are a green pig as slow as a tortoise.

You are a roar red thumb nail stuck fast to a grimy old thumb.

You are a Artic Tern flapping off to the Empire State Building.

You are a thimble the most dirt stained, stinky thimble in all of Downing Street.

You are a poodle lolloping down West Minster Aby.

You are a turtle grazing on tuner sandwiches?

You are a elephant as small as a borrower but as fat as a car.

You are a clock tick tocking all day long. “ bong bong bong

You are unique Shetland

You are a crisp cold day
Making me shiver from my nose to my toes
As I walk over the hill.

You are the peerie* colourful Puffin (peerie-small in Shetland dialect)
Standing in its cliff-edge burrow
Waiting for its mum to return with its dinner.

You are the purple heather
Clinging beautifully to the hill
As I run and roll down it.

You are the shiny silvery moon and the twinkling stars
Shining in the pitch black sky
Out of my bedroom window.

You are the cold wet sand
Getting washed by the
Stormy grey sea.

You are the playful snow white lambs
Jumping around in the green park
Making the most of the long midsummer.

You are the beautiful green Mirrie Dancers*   (Aurora Borealis in Shetland dialect)
Dancing across the midnight sky
Putting on a show for those below.

You are the smooth round pebbles
Getting kicked around by the sea
Waiting to be picked up and taken home by me.

You are the fierce lashing wild wind
Throwing up seawater on our windows
While we are trying to sleep.

You are an interesting rock pool
Bursting with creatures like crabs and starfish
Waiting for me to come and explore you.

You are the elegant elusive Orca
Gliding through the deep blue sea
All the way from Iceland to come and visit me.

You are unique Shetland
I can’t wait for my next adventure with you.

Pie asked his good friend Duncan Chisholm (one of Scotland’s most well known and recognised fiddle players) to record a piece to go with this poem. Here’s what Duncan said:

“I spread out the lines a little, laid over some Shetland beach sounds and recorded a Shetland air called ‘Leaving Lerwick Harbour’…..hope it’s ok!!”

Have a listen to Isla’s poem with Duncan performing alongside her:

The Crystal in the Mirror

In the mirror I saw a crystal, but it wasn’t a normal crystal.

It was a Taaffeite, but I did not know what it was,

it was as shiny as a tinsel, purple like Ribena™,

and it was as big as an elephant.

I couldn’t believe my eyes!

I tried to take a photo but it did not show up.

So I decided to do something ,

I climbed through the mirror.

Not knowing what was going to happen.

But then I woke up, I ran down stairs

almost falling and breaking my ankle!

But when I got to the mirror.

It was gone…

I guess it was all a crazy dream.

The Food Competition

In the mirror I heard-

Somebody called Percy Jackson an announcement speaker saying

like running, dancing, spinning, relay races and climbing.

first up we have the races and unlike last year the dancing is under

the shiny spotlight outside in the dark!!

Thanks Percy he said. Ok will all contestants please go to the starting line please.

oh very few contestants this year and Pinecone the Pickle…

The magic mirror

In the magical mirror I heard-

a loud STOMP!!! and saw a huge green face,

it was a giant tortoise with a endlessly long shell bashing down trees as it walked.

In the magical mirror I saw-

a HUGE black sausage lying in the middle of London bridge.
