“You need to go now it’s not safe,”warned Rita (mother to Mavis (13), Kiki (8) and young Rolo only 4 at the time)
“But why mum? Why can you stay but not us?”complained Rolo (the youngest of the kittens)
“I have to stay to help other cats escape before Skull and his gang the Shadowmasks come!”
“The Shadowmasks? Who are they?” Questioned Kiki curiously Rolo was sitting on the floor looking confused
“Mavis will explain on your journey but for now all you need to know is that The Shadowmasks are a group of blood-hounds that have been wanting to destroy our home bee hive hills for years and this is the week they will attack!”
Now they new what they had to do the kittens prepared for there long journey to the to the Ancient Oaks. In Mavis’ small rucksack they packed: 15 squares of ham – they would need their energy, 3 cat size torches for when it got dark, an old enchanted map that glows up where you are when your lost and shows you an arrow to the quickest way to your destination. They also packed as many bottles of milk as they could fit in the bag. With tears in their crying eyes, they said their last goodbyes. ” G-g-goodbye mother”sobbed Kiki.
“We can come back.Right ?” Cried Rolo sadly. He was still too young to understand the danger he and his sisters were in. Kiki opened the old, rusty gate and stood still waiting for Mavis and Rolo to come. Mavis had to pick up Rolo because he had no plans to leave at that moment. Before the three of them left, they turned around to wave goodbye one last time. Rita managed to wave back before falling to her knees in tears.
