Life as an evacuee

63 Danson Road,Bexley

DA14 4NP

6th September 1940

May Snickersble

Dear Mam,

Appreciated for the peanut butter on my dried fruits. I ate it all the way to Bexley. My friends were with me the whole way there. On that day, my boots were shaking in continuous fear. I’ll just say, it’s pretty green.

Once at my new house for now (Bexley), I ate my delicious apple (with peanut butter, of course) and went into a hall from a school with me, my friends and other evacuees. I felt everything go blank.

Anyway, I live with Miss Lavender on Danson Road in an ordinary house. The water comes from a really fancy well that had a small handle, but I got used to it soon enough. Back to the topic. First, I got showed to my room with another child she owned, Axel, age 6. Then, I cleaned myself outside and it was glacial cold!

The world of embarrassment

My embarrassment is made from-

nervous flamingos,

dancing like a ballerina

twisting and shining

bright like sky

staring into the beautiful sunset

closing into a worry on everyone’s mind.

I capture it-

where the air blows like snow

and the mud turns into dust

on a land full of treats

a dictionary of configurations

gazing into light

like a stone cold night.

My embarrassment can-

stop and twist

to imagine

what has disappeared in life

a constellation of imaginings on wooden floors

a night torn,worn

into pieces of broken mirror glass.

If all i won got lost

the earth would shake

and be broken into a million pieces

in its tiny solar system.

The chiming but mysterious ship…

The abyss still calls me,

you can see it in the trees,

I wonder if darkness is near

but the other stuff slowly disappears

away from land.

Grooving music chimes;

an angel’s halo falls from really high

a connection comes out in the night;

with lights that won’t bite

the light shines. The lie still remains,

Our captain aggressively shakes his head

as we reach a terrific dead end

with a wall of hard rocks.

Meanwhile, all of the crashed rocks slide under the docks

like wheels on a car.

The other docks were dressed like moons.

While we all looked like a balloon!

We looked like a colourful day.

Everyone decided not to stay

as every starfish lays

As one lays on the telescope

and another one almost made it broke,

shimmer sines as the sea’s freckles glisten,

the waves sound so good you have to listen

a prayer-

as the ship gets another layer

and never forgotten,

another dimension is unloking.

Scent of the masks

I wore a yellow mask and smelled
a banana flavoured drink with banana slices,
became a banana master
and learned how to make a banana levitate.
I wore a pink mask and tasted
sweet and sugary Candy floss that is really fresh and yummy,
a gummy flamingo with some fluffy marshmallow
and some delicious yogurt.
I wore a purple mask and saw
juicy grapes getting eaten off the vine,
a dinosaur named Barney cheering for his friends
and someone using their history book for homework.
I wore a red mask and touched
a juicy apple with a glossy outer layer,
a fire raging to tons of houses
and poppies getting picked off the ground.
I wore a blue mask and heard
the juice dripping from a juicy blueberry,
an eyeball blinking to another
and a scuba diver swimming.
I wore a white mask and tasted
some roasted marshmallows on a campfire,
a blank and clear A4 page
and a goofy face with clown face paint.

You are…..

You are a dinosaur stomping through the dry desert.

You are an owl hooting through the night.

You are winter with snowy icy trees and cold air.

You are a pigeon picking people’s chips for lunch.

You are a threatening tiger escaping the cage at Blackpool zoo.

You are the angel among the demonds.

You are the pink fluffy marshmallow hidden beneath the white ones.

You are the the key to the locked wooden door leading to a new universe.

You are the jackpot at the end of a shining rainbow.

You are the lost phone under a pile of snow like a needle lost in a hay stack.

You are the abandoned money left on the road like a dead mouse.

You are the hopping kangaroo clueless about weather he is a bunny or a kangaroo.

You are the gold beneath the surface waiting to be found.

You are the sunlight shining on the earth melting the ice.

You are a soft, fluffy cat like a silk jumper.
