Dearest Ma,

I cannot wait to tell you all about the past few days! They have been amazing! The train ride was slow (and quite boring) but I did enjoy looking out the window. The fields are incredibly green and have lots of these white fluffy things which I later found out were called sheep. I sat next to a girl named Elizabeth who shared some toffees with me and we chatted-or she chatted and I listened. She told me all about her life and it turns out she has a baby sister too!

     Once we finally arrived in the countryside, we had a short two-minute walk to the village hall, where lots of eager foster parents were already waiting. We stood in a line and waited to be chosen. After about ten minutes, I was on my way home with a kind, young lady named Mrs Rosemary who told me she had been very lonely ever since her husband left for the war. 

      When I got to her house, She gave me a glass of milk and not one but two biscuits! I ate them up quickly before she showed me to my lovely new room.

      I am starting school on Monday and I will make sure to tell you all about it. I hope I’m in Elizabeth’s class!

      I miss you lots and can’t wait to be back with you but don’t worry about me. I hope that you and little Rose are ok!
