Prologue

Bernard looked out of the window, he was terrified of the lightning. He ran and hid under the driver’s seat. Bernard saw rockets shooting up into the sky like a shooting star. They were very loud and they got Bernard into a fright. Bernard was still hiding from the rockets and when they landed a tiger came and scratched the airship.

Chapter 4: Cogheart

Josh dreamed that he was having food. His favourite! McDonald’s chicken McNuggets and fries. He dreamed that a big plate overflowing with scrumptious nuggets sat in front of him. So close he could almost taste it. He rubbed his hungry belly.

Suddenly, he was woken up by the thundering sound of a bin lorry going past the window. He said sadly, “Where are my McDonald’s fries and nuggets?”

Horns beeped loudly and engines chugged along the bumpy street as they clattered over the hundred potholes.

Bernard, the brown and black fox, was licking his fluffy fur to make it smooth and cosy.

“There’s no time for talking about McDonalds. We’ve got to rescue your Papa!” said Bernard.

Borris was still snoring away like a pig grunting in the pen. Josh nudged him with his foot. He still didn’t wake up so Josh began bouncing on the bed.

“Get up you lazy bones!”

They set off. Josh, Bernard and a very sleepy Borris headed towards the lake where they knew Pap’s boat would be tied ready to sail.

Soon they saw the man who had locked them in the attic. His brown hair was messy like a plate of spaghetti. And his eyes were red all around as he squinted in the half darkness. They ran after him.

The mysterious man started to set traps around the lake. Josh accidentally stepped on a trap nestled in the grass. Toads sprung out of a small box. Josh hated toads! Slimey little beasts.

Borris wanted to say something to Josh. He couldn’t help blurting out, “What do you call a deer with no eyes?”

Josh looked up, unamused.

“A no idea!” Borris giggled.

Josh brushed himself off, getting rid of all the slime from the disgusting toads. They looked at the man once more. He was about to use the special key he had stolen from them in the attic. It would unlock all the treasure on Papa’s boat.

Bernard the sneaky mechanical fox had already started to creep towards the man. He slyly lifted the key from the man’s back pocket as he tied yet another trap. Running away, he whispered to the man, “See you later, alligator,” and giggled to himself cunningly.

Suddenly the ship had a hole in it. The ship started to sink Help he said but Josh and Borris paid no attention.

The man was running like a lost sheep.

Soon when the boat sunk they saw a tied up person they ran to them they saw joshes farther he was trapped in a box.

Josh and Borris looked for a key soon they found one Josh was delighted suddenly his dad was confused.

Chapter 3

Josh couldn’t see a thing it was pitch black. “Where’s the light switch?” said Josh.

Suddenly, the lights came back on he saw that Borris was lay in bed.

Josh was anxious at Boris he was fast asleep like a boiled egg.

Josh said, “If you don’t get up, I will yeet you down the stairs.”

Borris jumped out of bed. He was terrified.

Josh said, “I need your help Borris. I think we need to get out of this creepy manor.”

They saw a lock on the window.

“There must be another key,” said Josh.

So they got out of the attic. They looked around the manor for another key. Suddenly, Borris found something… “It’s the window key!” said Borris.

They raced up to the attic and unlocked the window.

“Wait a minute,” said Josh, “How are we supposed to get down?”

There were vines down the side of the building. Cleverly, they used them to get down from the attic window. Soon, when they had reached the ground, Josh began to think about his parents. It made him very depressed.

Chapter 2

Borris, Bernard, and Josh, saw the manor they went inside they saw they had two bedrooms. Also when Josh, Bernard, Borris, came outside they saw knocked over plant pots that looked sad.

Josh said, “Let’s go and find the secret safe.”

They ran forward like elephants escaping from a zoo. Frightened, Josh, Boris and Bernard rushed inside and locked the door.

Curiously, Josh found a secret note in the attic. It read: whoever is reading this, I know where the secret safe is. Follow this map – it is somewhere in this attic.

“This must be from my grandad,” said Josh.

Boris cheered, “I’ve got it! It’s the secret safe!”

He ran to Josh but it needed a secret gold key. However, Bernard the sneaky fox already had the gold key. So they opened up the door. There was a lot of paper to go through but there was something else in the safe.

Suddenly, the whole house became dark…

Dancing Daisies

Dancing Daisies

Dancing daisies

Like a ballerina twirling around and around

Their very dark roots

Dig deep underground

Looking for treasure

Their floating petals

Shine as bright as the sun

Showing of their golden colour.

The Big Birch Tree

The Big Birch Tree stands all alone

His leaves left shadows

In the midday sun

The roots were twisting and

Grabbing the grass above.
