Chapter 2 – The Mysterious Monocle

Chapter Two: The mysterious monocle

Neil’s twinkling eyes, continuously focused on the shimmering glow of the majestic and enchanting monocle, as it lay peacefully, sparkling like the most mystical, wonderous star in the sky, just waiting to be founded. Intricate patterns, so consecutive and divine, shown that this truly magnificent monocle, had belonged to the wealthiest person, dressed in several vibrant colours, woven by the finest silk. Neil’s jaw dropped, astonished at this unbeatable masterpiece…

“Excuse me, little boy,” a rather husky voice stated, “That elegantly- fascinating monocle, once belonged to one of the most powerful and grand emperor, of the whole of Britain!” “ If you even meet fingertips with that precious artefact, only the worst may come to you, and to you only,” he added mysteriously…

Suddenly, Neil heard an ear- piercing shriek (probably from an ignorant bird for a fact) including the shopkeeper, whose name was now found out to be Mr MConnor. As quick as a flash, Mr MConnor dashed out of the room, and shot directly through a tattered door. At that moment, Neil’s restless eyes, reappeared facing the silver- polished monocle once again- he had to touch it. He couldn’t resist what was so brutal about it.

The curious Neil, neatly placed the antique monocle upon one solo eye, but absolutely nothing happened. He didn’t see anything that was different of barbaric about it. But that was until the quaint room of the shop starting rattling ferociously, as if a treacherous earthquake was about to sweep him up and swallow him entirely. Then, Neil’s ears danced continuously, as several immense, brass trumpets sounds, ascended upwards into the air, mighty cheers so tremendously thunderous, Neil felt more frightened than impressed, so he huddled himself into a crouch, to hide his tense emotions…

A few short moments later, Neil’s anxious face arose, his now numb arms unfolded, and his eyes twitched to see a whole new world. Scrumptious feasts of colossal sizes, were so mountainous, he could scoff them down at any moment. Heavenly music, never ending cheers and worship, were laid for this magnificent emperor, of the wonderous year of 1721!

But then the chaos silenced, and all eyes spun round to encounter they’re true emperor, who was chattering on about his lost monocle, he’d recently just lost- Neil saw him as a stern man, cloaked in the finest robes and the most vibrant colours. Soon his eyes darted towards Neil, and eyed the glimmering monocle suspiciously- Neil gulped and swallowed his breath…
