Chapter 4
The lucky key!
Terrified, the racing of her heart pulsated under her fingertips, as she gripped the door as tight as she could. She furiously twisted the knob to find it was locked. Hoping, the beast had moved away, reluctantly it caught up, She was trapped! Her heart was racing faster than it ever had before, she thought she was having a heart attack.
Grinning, she remembered seeing in the mouldy, rotten box, what was the rats food, but most importantly a key. She thought maybe that was the key, which unlocked the door. Like a professional untangler. She dis-untangled the key from the yoyo in several seconds. Sprinting as fast as she could, she reached the door , put the rusty, worn key in the door, and carefully unlocked the door.
As creepy as a crawly, Emma looked up to jump at the fact Agatha, who was the shop owner, was watching her every move. Then she said,”Did you manage to find what you were looking for?”
“I didn’t,” replied Emma
“There is always another day!” hissed the old lady.
Emma soonturned and faced the other doors, it seemed if it was a year since she last passed them doors.
Blinking, she took a deep breath and all memories and worries had all faded away as she soon felt as if it was a dream. All of a sudden, she took a sharp blink to find she was eating dinner, a roast on a Sunday. Her mother and father were confused why she wasn’t talking, they never saw her not talk this long. She was trying to shut her eyes and go back but she couldn’t and nothing was working. Later that night, when Emma was getting ready for bed, in her pocket, she found the key she unlocked the door with and transferred back home.Emma didn’t know why but the only thing she wanted to do was go back to the emporium. She didn’t care about the handbag or the things she wanted. All she wanted was to go back. As Emma clambered back into bed, a small tinting noise began. It was the bird who brought her to the door in the emporium…
