WWII

The holidays were looming and Olive took good care of Stripes, sadly she couldn’t take him on walks or they would get exposed!

One day, he went out and Olive made sure he hid by following him. Everything was going okay until…

Stripes spotted her best friend and started chasing her. she turned around to see if he was still chasing her when she spotted Olive. “OLIVE!” She cried “HELP ME!” Olive called his name “Stripes!” Stripes immediately Stopped and turned around, Giving Olive’s best friend a chance to run back.

WW II

Olive got onto the train, even though she hated them she had to. She ate some sausages and beans. Olive fell asleep just after she finished eating.

Once Olive arrived , she knew this was not London. It was instead a school, with hundreds of parents. Most of them passed by but this lovely old lady took Olive without saying anything.

When Olive arrived at the old lady’s house. It had two bedrooms. She wasn’t expecting a sibling but there was a twin room and Miss Langwest’s room. There was another room next to the lounge and something or someone growled loudly every time Olive or her new family walked by it. She new she needed to explore further…

Olive crept downstairs at midnight only to find Miss Langwest feeding a creature, it was a tiger! She was about to scream until “Shhh! I know I’m feeding a tiger but if I didn’t take him in he would have gotten shot!” Whispered Miss Langwest. “This stays between us, his name is Stripes,” “ Wow!” Olive shouted. She ran to Stripes and hugged him. Olive knew they would have a strong bond in the future.

World War II

Dear mum,

I hope you are doing okay, I am. Thanks for the sausages, they were really yummy. This girl sat next to me, her name is Lily. Lily helped me unwrap the tinfoil because I couldn’t undo it. I secretly ate mine while walking, luckily no one noticed.

I am currently on the train, me and Lily are sharping snacks because I already ate mine. The fields look so green and fresh, there were loads of sheep and cows. I chatted to Lily for a bit  and then we got there.

When we arrived there were hundreds of parents in the hall. We walked in and everyone immediately jumped up and started inspecting us. There was the nice old lady, she asked me for my name, then took me in.

The house we have is a cottage next to a clear lake we play every few hours and we have veggies every Sunday. It’s super fun but I really miss you, I wish you were here with me.

I hope I can come home soon, love Jessy.

The ship of stars

On the ship of stars,
the deep blue sea was crashing against the chocolate brown deck
causing the big, red cannons to set off aiming towards any creatures in it’s way.

On the ship of stars,
the tired captain was scratching his beard
“Walk to bed” a voice echoed across the ocean

the captain accidentally walked the plank,

he was alive, he climbed up and went to bed.

The Skin-Slasher by Jessy

The Skin-Slasher
The skin-slasher is a highly dangerous type of beetle which has only been discovered in the last year on a palm tree in Guam. Since then, scientists have studied it and observed its habits so they could know what it is fully capable of. But how would you recognise one? Read on to find out.

Appearance
A skin-slasher has the shape of ordinary beetles but there are many features that make it special, including two three-centimetre horns on its head, a back which has a crossed pattern and a red dot on and a three and a half centimetre stinger. The critter in total is ten centimetres long and weighs approximately fifteen grams. The way to tell that they are skin-slashers is the vibrant red dot at the top of its back. Even though they cannot fly, they are incredibly fast going up walls or doors etc. BEWARE: These venomous animals can be found anywhere at anytime, so keep your eyes peeled.

What it does
Many people believe that these creatures are harmless and that scientists have been lying, yet they could not be more wrong. These insects could cut open your skin with one slice of their horns, injecting a highly toxic venom as they do it. This would leave you in unspeakable pain, not to mention nausea and dizziness. Additionally, many scientists say that some of these cuts can be worse than snake bites and you should immediately call and ambulance if this happens. Moreover, if you see one of these creatures, either run as far away as you can or possibly trap it with something like a bucket (you would have to be extremely cautious)

The Ghostly Emporium by Jessy

The Ghostly Emporium

Prologue
There are many places that people dream of going. The Ghostly Emporium is not one of them.

Despite the smell of freshly made bread coming out of it. Despite the colourful chocolate eggs in the window at Easter time. Despite the sound of melodic bells coming from it during the year. Despite the breath of fresh air you get when you walk in front of it.

Yet no one ever went in. They were too frightened because the door looked like it would suck you into darkness. No one had dared to enter… until Natasha came along.

Chapter 1
Natasha’s friends had always told her she was too daring- Natasha agreed, but she liked that about herself. One rainy day, Natasha was so bored that she had the urge to do something dangerous. Beyond daring. She grabbed her yellow coat and a hair pin and set off into town. After 10 minutes, she arrived. The Ghostly Emporium. A heavy lock hung from the door. Natasha swiftly inserted her hair pin into it and picked the lock. Slowly, the door creaked open. Hesitating a little, Natasha stepped into the dark hallway. WHOOSH.A row of candles lit up in an instant. THUD. The heavy, wooden door shut behind her. She didn’t care. Something met her eyes along the hallway which she found much more interesting. A bookshelf filled with rotting books, cobwebs covering them like a blanket. Natasha moved forward and looked to her left. A skeleton hanging from a string. She looked to her right. A doll, with piercing eyes.
“I see you have found my house little girl,” growled a voice.

Chapter 2
Natasha immediately turned her head round. She saw a middle-aged man standing before her, staring into her eyes.
“My name is Emmanuel Silvers, I own this Emporium,” he explained in a low voice. ”Feel free to look around if you wish, it isn’t that bad after this part- it is just here to scare the faint of hearted…apparently you are not one of them,”
“But-“ said Natasha, but by the time she had said that, the mysterious man had vanished in an instant.

Feeling confused, Natasha went further down the hallway and came to a stop at a cabinet with only 1 object on. A glasses case, old and worn. She gingerly picked it up and opened it. What she saw made her gasp with surprise. Beautiful golden sunglasses. Natasha instantly tried to picture herself in them, as a 13 year old girl does. She quickly put them on. All of a sudden, she felt her world spinning until her vision had faded into darkness.

When she opened her eyes, a perfect, tranquil beach stood before her. She looked around. No one to be seen. Natasha walked towards the clear, blue water. The warm ocean covered her ankles and Natasha felt enlightened.

Chapter 3
Feeling like she was in heaven, Natasha turned around to face the sand and a quaint little beach-house caught her attention. Because it looked so gorgeous, she decided to have a closer look.

Approaching the light blue house, she noticed that the front door was ajar, almost inviting her in. As she entered the kitchen she saw: the sight of fresh scones on a pink tablecloth; matching mint coloured cupboards; and ivy growing up the walls of the cottage-like place. Natasha’s favourite food were homemade scones, so she simply had to try one. The flavour was immaculate. The texture was crumbly and light.
“How could this day get any better?” exclaimed Natasha.

“I don’t know little girl…” bellowed a voice. She froze. Slowly turning her head around, a hooded creature with red eyes that stared into her soul met her eyes. Natasha darted out of the open door, and back down onto the beach to where she had first arrived, frantically looking for those sunglasses. Yet they were no where to be found.
“COME HERE LITTLE GIRL,” yelled a voice from behind.

Chapter 4
Blocking out the rough voice, Natasha was still desperately searching for the glasses, when, all of a sudden, she spotted them. In a deep pool of water that had formed in the sand, clear as glass. Natasha glanced over her shoulder; the beast was getting closer by the second.

Taking a deep breath, she jumped in. It was unexpectedly warm, not freezing cold like she suspected. At least she had attended swimming lessons for the last 10 years. Breathing in another deep breath, Natasha dived down. Further. Further. Further. She could not afford to go back up to the surface. She was nearly there. Natasha desperately needed to breathe, but she was too close to give up the ghost. Finally, she reached the sandy bottom. Natasha immediately started fumbling for the sunglasses and then quickly put them on.

In a blink of an eye, Natasha had returned to the creepy corridor laying on the floor, gasping for air. Incredibly, her clothes and hair were completely dry! What on earth had just happened to her?

Natasha did not want to stay any longer, nor see Emmanuel Silvers again, so she tiptoed back down towards the entrance, trying to be unnoticeable.
“I see you have returned little one… did you find what you were looking for?” questioned Emmanuel. Natasha shook her head.
“Well there is always another day to find what you seek… yes. Well it must be time for you to head out now… Natasha,”he said, holding the heavy door open
“Hang on I didn’t tell you my na-“. But before she could finish, she had already been hurried out of the door with it being closed behind her.

Still having many more questions to ask the man, Natasha turned back around, but what she saw flabbergasted her. The building had completely vanished with no trace of even existing. As she walked home, her mind was still racing with questions and wonder. Little did she know that a crow was following her home. Watching. Waiting. Observing. It had all of the time in the world…

The Magical Mansion

In the room of forgotten items,

I re-discovered toys from my childhood

In the room of sorrow,

I felt all of my happy feelings being drained from my body

In the room of clocks,

a thousand hands waved at me as I entered

In the room of zodiacs,

I felt symbols fill up my head

In the room of mirrors,

I saw a million clones of myself before me

In the room of jealousy,

I felt hundreds of envious looks directed towards me

In the room of trampolines,

I bounced with every step I took

In the room of emptiness,

I felt numb, like I had no purpose.
