There are places no one goes. Places like this building were a curse.
Even at christmas the hidden gemstones shimmer in the light of the hiding sun. The bake sale on main street, the streamers flying through the air. Although, this one building was always sad and grey so no one bothered even trying to enter. There were rumours that the door had the weight of a planet, others believed it was always locked but this girl was curious, so she tried.
It was a cold winter’s morning, shops and places were opening already. This one place called “The Emporium” it was empty yet becoming to her, so Leyla creaked open the door, surprisingly it was a lightweight door. She’d believe the rumours of the heavy door so she was surprised she had seen a mysterious object. It seemed to be a book but she was unsure so she investigated she opened it and saw a familiar story like she’d been there then the book was snapped shut and a raspy voice said “You’re not meant to be a’ readin’ dis lil lad,” Leyla looked up and saw a barn owl on top of a small yet old man (she had expected he was the owner) the owl had shook it’s head vigorously in disapproval.
