Mina White Eye by Keeva
Finally, they were ready to leave. Mina, Minnie and Maria were inches from the precarious gate of WingPort. Their Aunt had been stolen just like their parents years ago by the treacherous eagles who had tormented the owls of Owlinka – where Mina lived. They knew that it would be a difficult journey; nobody would ever be safe. There wings lifted and they twisted in-between the silver gate that was so old it was close to crumbling. Passing the huge sign that read “WingPort”, Minnie looked back with Maria huddled in her arms and felt a crystal-clear tear fall down her cheek. Minnie and Mina were unaware of the true difficulty of this challenging journey.
The journey would take at least a week; they’d have to cross the largest mountains in all of Owlinka. The Mort Mountains were so big that as Owlinka was in the sky, they went through the O-Zone. No owl had ever crossed it and, as far as Mina and Minnie knew, nobody ever will. Once they endured that horrible flight, they’d have to go to Eagle cliff. It was a horrible place that probably had more dead bodies than a grave yard covered from top to bottom in eagles. However, the eagles king (Eacrowchi) had stolen the last remaining Owl Gem; it could fix the world.
Minnie reached into the small pocket of her jacket feeling around for the food she had left in there before their journey had started. They were getting nearer to the Mort Mountains watching as they got bigger and bigger. She lifted her hand slowly picking up the object she had found. Suddenly, an old note flew out of her pocket. Surprised, she reached out her hand and caught it. It was a note from her mother. Mina looked over and Minnie. She began to read,” My children, if you find this then you’re probably in danger. Do not fear. My closest friend has a shop outside the Mort Mountains. Just tell them that you’re in danger and they will help.”
Mina stared in disbelief at what had just happened,” I can see a small shop.” She said. They both swooped down with Maria and Minnie’s arms. The small glowing sign outside read,” Closed.” They decided to stop for the night and wait until the shop reopened at dawn. The snow filled mountains await them standing there proud and tall like an evil queen laughing at them. Would they ever be safe?
