Gertrude went to the counter and bought: Toxic Wastes, a big teddy bear and a painting of a boat for her mum. Mr Barnes saw her out and waved goodbye. As she was walking home she thought to herself why don’t parents let their children in there. She asked her mum why she wasn’t allowed inside the shop but she never got an answer! Gertrude gave her mum the painting and told her the Emporium was a magical place and we should support the shop, to her surprise her mum wasn’t angry. They went there the next day and soon everybody was going there to buy toys and sweets.
In the room of…
In the room of sweets, there was never a bitter feeling.
In the room of sadness, there was never a happy feeling.
In the room of animals, care never faded.
In the room of numbers, my head never cleared.
In the room of fire, the heat was unbearable.
In the room of books, knowledge followed you everywhere.
In the room of countries, maps circled the room.
