Chapter 2 – A Warning Disobeyed
Clay started walking towards the book, he could hear it calling to him ‘Take me! Take…’
Then the book was right in front of him in arms reach. He reached out and grabbed the book, he flipped the cover of the book and noticed that at the start there was a name (presumably the book’s owner’s name) the name was Lewis Bronze, Clay paid no attention to it he started ficked through the books old, yellow, coarse pages. Every page had a new picture. There were pictures of dragon cities, flying citadel, cloud worlds but it was just all fantasy, there were peaceful beaches, dense forests, mansions and even a ship. He carried on flicking through the pages and came across an empty page and on the page was an old, blunt pencil…Tyler took the pencil and pressed it against the page just as he was about to start writing he heard a voice…
The mysterious voice said ‘I see you have found my most prized possession; my Book of Marvels.’
Clay simultaneously dropped the pencil and slammed the book shut and hid it behind his back. As he slowly turned around he saw a tall, old man with a charming smile.’H-h-hello,’ stammered Clay taking a few steps back from the man.
‘Hello, you don’t happen to be holding my book, if you do could you hand it to me,’ said the old man in a kind tone,’it is the only thing in this shop that is not for sale.’
‘Oh ok here,’ Clay said reluctantly, putting the book in the old man’s hand.
‘Thank you, you can call me Lewis or Mr.Bronze but that just makes me feel older than I already am.’ chuckled Mr Lewis Bronze.
‘Ok,’ Clay reciprocated.
‘Feel free to have a look around my shop. I’m sure you’ll find something just as good as my book,’ Lewis said.
‘I like your owl,’ said Clay
‘Ah yes, my owl the only one of its breed!’ said Lewis ,’ I’m going now I have some work to do…’
And in a blink of an eye he was gone through what seemed like a brick wall Clay was perplexed ‘Where did he go?’ he spoke to himself.
He noticed a pen next to him he took it and put it in his pocket. He couldn’t get his mind of the book, so he tried to occupy himself with something else interesting so he decided to investigate the brick wall. He felt around for any thing like a door or something and not after long he felt a door handle
He grabbed it, took a deep breath and pushed the handle down…It led into a gigantic room with a marble floor and a roof as high as a giraffe, however, all there was in the room was door after door after door there were probably hundreds of doors, and there was a giant echo. Clay decided to check out some of the rooms. The first one had him shocked for a while. It was all chaos his heart was practically beating out his chest. The room was full of dinosaurs roaring in pain after being pelted by flaming rocks. The next door was a peaceful beach like he saw in the book now he understood whatever you write in the book is turned into a door and when you walk through
whatever you wrote will be inside. Clay turned around and saw a desk with something on top, something that instantly lifted his morale…The book! He instantly pulled out the pen from his pocket and started writing down what he wanted. He wanted a forest with bushes and a cottage inside the forest but inside the cottage was what he really wanted… Every word he wrote was devoured into a drawing that looked like exactly what he wanted.
Then out of nowhere the book said’ Proceed to door 257 Clay sprinted down the hallway and opened the door… Instantly he felt a gush of wind blow past him sunlight was seeping through the trees and he noticed something rusting in a bush. He slowly walked towards the bush.. Nothing was inside so he walked through the bush and saw an amazing, azure river flowing with a bridge made of pebbles over it. As he look up he saw the cottage he sprinted to the cottage door and pushed down the handle…
Chapter 3: Through The Door
Clay pushed down the handle, the door was unlocked, he held the door in one place for a second. He took a deep breath and went in.He instantly felt relieved by: the warm fire and cozy armchair; the kitchen table had 2 cups of tea and 2 plates of fresh toast; there was a frying pan cooking and egg on the stove and there was a fruit bowl on the counter; on the wall there was a coat hanging.
Clay thought his dad must be home.He shouted, ‘DAD! I’m here!’ no response and he said dad in a quieter voice no response he carried on shouting each time his voice was getting quieter. He thought his dad might be outside taking a stroll or chopping wood for the fire.Clay noticed there was an upstairs so he decided to go check it out.Upstairs was quite small there was only 2 rooms one for his dad and one that had his name on the door…Clay wondered why his name was on the door…He decided to go inside. The first thing he noticed is that there was toys all over the floor and he had a race car bed. This bedroom was probably from when he was 4 or something on the wall there was photos of him next to his man and that man was his dad.So he had met his dad before.
As he was examining the room he heard a thump downstairs everything went silent even the birds tweeting outside. Then he heard another thump this time it was louder and then he heard multiple thumps.Petrified,Paralyzed,Perplexed Clay stood still thinking about what was downstairs. Then Clay plucked up the courage to go downstairs and check what it was he slowly tip-towed down the stairs.
As he went downstairs he saw a silhouette of what seemed to be a human but it couldn’t be what was thumping down stairs then.Clay got down the stairs and saw his dad!He decided to go closer.
Suddenly, his ‘dad’ shapeshifted into a grotesque snake wolf hybrid beast: His horns were dripping blood; his face was hairy like a wolf; but he had fangs dripping green gooey poison; he was on all fours and his feet had razor sharp claws.Clay was half paralyzed for a second he was terrified of the beast in front of him he couldn’t move a muscle or he’d devour him alive. Then the monster looked behind himself.
Clay took this opportunity to run and soon after the beast started chasing him.Clay ran faster than he had ever ran before so fast that he almost fell a few times. Then a deer almost rammed into Clay but it missed. Then the beast started chasing the deer. This served as the perfect distraction for Clay to get to the door.He sprinted down the path and was almost at the end when he noticed that the door was gone ‘NO!NO!NO!’ shouted Clay in frustration he was stuck…CLay sat by the door then noticed the beast would find him soon so he decided to hide in a bush nearby and then he heard the footsteps of the beast it stopped right in front of Clay’s bush…
Chapter 4: The Return
Slowly, Silently, Clay crept out from the back of the bush he could see the grey hairs on the top of the hybrid’s head. Cautiously, Clay tip-toed away from the bush, as he went away he noticed another path through the swaying leaves of the redwood trees towering above him. He was intrigued by what was on the path so he went towards it. As soon as he stepped on the path he felt a sudden gust of wind and a splash of water. In front of him he saw a giant, black hole in the ground about the size of a sinkhole he lingered towards the hole the closer he went the colder it was and more water splashed his face.As he peered over the hole he saw a giant wormhole inside he was so shocked by it he almost fell in inside there was a brown door , the same door he came through.
Clay knew he had to get to that door some way or another if he stayed even an hour more in this imaginative dimension he was gonna die (probably). He was figuring out how he was going to get to that door when suddenly the monster that was chasing him howled so loud he jolted up and fell into the sinkhole… gasping for breath he reached out for the platform to his left he couldn’t reach it.
Then suddenly out of the blue a stacilite fell from the roof only missing his head by inches then rocks started falling down on him the sinkhole was collapsing and expanding he had to make it to that door otherwise he was gonna die. Desperately grabbing for the door handle he was trying to move his legs but the wormhole compressed them together.Abruptly, a giant stone platform fell behind him and created a giant wave pushing him towards the door he was getting pulled down by the wormhole and couldn’t swim up he couldn’t hold his breath for much longer he was going to drown, Clay let himself drift away and loose hope he closed his eyes and waited for his fate…
As Clay drifted away he thought back on his unorthodox adventures the past few hours he chuckled a little bubbles released from his mouth then suddenly he couldn’t feel the pressure of the water and he felt dry he was mesmerized ~how was he dry if he was just drifted away in the water?!Where was he?~He slowly opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was a door then another then 100 more he was in the emporium! HOW? He decided to not question the fact that he was still alive and also decided to get up before he looked like some psycho. Then he heard a familiar voice say ‘ You’ve made it out of your imagination i see,’ Clay nodded.
‘I told you not to write in that book,’ said Lewis Bronze
‘S-s-sorry?’ stammered Clay
‘Now that you have learnt your lesson you can come back some other day!’ said Lewis holding open the golden door Clay was thinking how he got to the front door but just went through anyways when he went through he appeared in front of his house Clay chuckled and walked in and was instantly greeted by his mum and the smell of fresh food!
