It was actually a scream of joy that came from his sister; “James, James! Come quick!” Squealed Sophie, “ It’s a unicorn foal, and the tip of its horn is broken!” Once again, the unicorn tapped the pellucid window, obviously in pain. James hobbled over to a nearby seat, and quivered on it. Euphoric, Sophie bolted into the cockpit and clambered up onto the pilot’s bunk, where there sat, and silently so, a large, steel bucket. Sophie wasn’t stupid; she grabbed a large handful of enticing thornberries, a unicorn’s favourite treat! Alarmed by this harmless creature, James checked above himself for an oxygen mask. Sophie hauled the steel bucket over to seat B’s window, of which was blocking the injured unicorn’s path to its benevolent helpers.Unlocking the latch, Sophie leaned forward so far that she nearly fell out! Gently, Sophie lowered down the chipped bucket, which contained the berries. The unicorn foal took one look at the metal being and trotted away.
A moment later, the foal cantered back, delicately smelling the thornberries. Coaxed by this tempting treat, the foal, and reluctantly, hitched itself up the lip of the bucket. Realising that the foal was still weeks old and needed care, James took a deep breath and prepared for instructions; “Grab the suitcase!” Yelled Sophie. He fetched the suitcase from his footwell, doubt in his mind. Would strict no-nonsense Captain O’leana agree to this foolish bribery. Of course he didn’t want to admit his worries to his sister, who was so benevolent to this poor soul, but he knew he ought to.
