The Mask of Months

 

I wore a mask of January 

And I thought of new beginnings.

 

I wore a mask of February

And celebrated love.

 

I wore a mask of March

And ate a fresh-baked pie.

 

I wore a mask of April

And played pranks on my friends.

 

I wore a mask of May 

And went to Harry’s birthday

And ate chocolate cake.

 

I wore a mask of June.

I was free from school 

And played with friends down the lane.

 

I wore a mask of July 

And had a picnic with my family,

The sandwiches curling from the sun.

 

I wore a mask of August

And celebrated llamas day.

 

I wore a mask of September 

And knew the harvest would come soon.

 

I wore a mask of October 

And cake and presents awaited me.

 

I wore a mask of November 

And went to Milford for firework night,

Colours exploding in the sky.

 

I wore a mask of December 

And trembled with excitement,

Wondering if Santa had been.

I’ve never danced gracefully on the steep waves,

but I have surfed on waves.

 

I’ve never met a unicorn on Mount Everest,

but I have seen mountain sheep on the mountain.

 

I’ve never balanced while drinking tea on a zip line dodging the people coming down,

but I have balanced on a slack line.

 

I’ve never befriended mean people,

but I have made true friends.

 

I’ve never jumped of a helicopter to sky dive plummeting down to earth,

but I have jumped up to 5 feet tall.

The curious kitten full of adventure creeps up on you like a spy trying to get information.

His fur pricked up like spikes. Deadly spikes that weren’t harmful at all.

He dashed steadily to the chair to get under it and to get out of sight.Feet slid past like ice.THUMP!
