Chapter 1- The Unlucky Problem
Charlie and Ada were sweeping the main deck of the World -Traveller, gazing at the sand on Islet Acres Island beneath them, missing their family and their home comforts. Charlie was a young boy in the Victorian era trying to make some money for his family. He came from a very poor family from a very poor country. He had a sister, called Ada. They have two siblings; the oldest is Alexandra (the most disruptive), the second oldest is Arthur (the funniest) and then there is Ada and Charlie who were two years apart. They have a mother called Alice Carter and a father called Louis Carter (who makes and sells matches).
One week ago, Charlie saw an advertisement near the railway station saying CLEANERS WANTED FOR £3 A DAY ON MAJOR SKY-SHIP ADVENTURE TO DISCOVER NEW DESERTED LANDS. He raced home and told Ada all about the poster. Ada was just as excited as Charlie and they decided to ask their parents if they could join the expedition. Of course, they were very pleased, as they needed more money. The next day they called the number on the poster to make it official. They really needed some money to get them through the next few years and this was the perfect opportunity.
So, our story starts with Charlie doing his daily main deck clean, and Ada cleaning the dishes. Suddenly, there was a massive thump on the deck and the captain exclaimed, “SKY DRAGON!”. Charlie jumped up and saw an enormous snowy white dragon pouncing around and around. Ada leapt out of the kitchen to find her brother. Charlie was so scared that he scuttled under a waterproof sheet with his sister. The dragon approached, ripped off the sheet and made the ship be shaken up like a cocktail. Charlie and Ada both got catapulted off the ship and before they knew, their life was flashing before their eyes.
In the blink of an eye, they both landed on a bitterly cold and snowy surface. Charlie looked up for the sky ship, but it was nowhere to be seen. Charlie and Ada rapidly knew that they were definitely going to discover a new land … BY THEMSELVES!
