What Are by Rebekah

What are hot? A bonfire at forest school with burning sparks coming out of it and a volcano with boiling hot lava as hot as a dragon’s breath.

What are cold? A freezer as cold as a penguin that has just been in the Antarctic ocean and a ton of snow covering up the cold grass.

What are heavy? A red London bus with 19 passengers in it and a giant T-rex with sharp spikes on its big back rampaging through a hot desert.

What are light? A long, colourful feather falling from a peacock in the zoo and a bubble floating around the wintery air with a little snowflake trapped inside it.

What are strong? A black, hairy, scary gorilla beating its chest really hard and caring friendship between husband and wife.

What are fragile? A china teacup that has been waiting on its shelf for someone to fill it with hot steaming tea and a beautiful vase full of flowers, with pollen that smells lovely.

I want to paint

I want to paint my class rushing out to play, like a herd of elephants stampeding to get water.

I want to paint a fish swimming in the sea, like a kite flying in the sky, with its tail gently swaying about.

I want to paint

I want to paint

I want to paint without constraint

I want to paint a sizzling sausage waiting in its bun for someone to come and eat it, with mustard as hot as any spicy sauce.

Woodland Forest

The tall trees stand still except for their rustling leaves,

As if they are humans letting the blowing breeze whip their hair.

Squirrels rush through the bushes,

Like lightning bolts through the sky.

A doe tends to it fawn,

Careful as a nurse would be to their patient.

The gentle rain slowly falls from the sky,

In the same way a small blanket would land on to a baby.

Fish splash in a small, translucent pond,

As if they were children mucking around in a pool.

A still girl sits in slowly flowing grass,

Watching everything as if it was an intriguing show.

Question poems

What is heavy? – A full heart, consumed with so much love and passion.

What is light? – the feather-light feather, reigning down on us as it tumbles its way down to earth

What is bright? – the illuminating source of light that brings joy to the world, through its bright smile up in the sky.

What is dark? – the earth drifting away in a deep sleep as the sun vanishes and the moon awakens darkness.

What is deep? – the deep Atlantic ocean luring you to the wonders that lie deep beyond the vast sea.

What is narrow? – the thin squashed road restricting one’s pathway as it is corrupted by many cars causing severe traffic.

Our country

You are the flag,

Your colors bright and cheerful.

You are a double decker bus,

Red as a cherry.

You are the queen,

Your crown resting on your curly silver hair.

You are the prime minister,

In the middle of a meeting.

You are a school,

Children spilling out of you.

Your are a supermarket,

Shoppers everywhere.

You are the sea,

An entrance to different countries.

You are a clock,

Revealing our country’s current time.

You are the rain,

Hardly leaving us alone.
