Chapter 1
It was a scorching hot afternoon in June. The streets were inaudible as nobody was there. People were in houses fanning themselves. Plants were all shrivelled up: they didn’t have any hydration so they can’t become attractive flowers or nitrous vegetables.
Ruby Mortimer couldn’t stand the heat so she was wearing shorts and a maroon shirt. She walked over to the check point her heart was pounding in her chest. She could see the guard stamping his feet and shouting like a fuming rhino.
“Who’s next?” the guard shouted.
“Me,” Ruby answered softly.
“What brings you here?” he questioned.
“I just need to make a quick delivery for a customer sir,” she answered back.
The guard was just about to send her back, but he made his final decision and let her through. The guard glared intensely as he pointed to the wall.
“You may pass,” he angrily answered.
Ruby nodded and passed the guard, she was walking through upper London: pavements were smooth; expensive cars were passing by; towering stone buildings; and bussiness men not even caring were there going.
Ruby’s jealousy was coming in. She wished to live her life in this luxurious part of London. She wished to drive around London in a brilliant car. But all she gets is heads down and don’t communicate.
Suddenly a stranger tripped her over, grabbed her arm, yanked her into a narrow ally way and covered her mouth.
“Give me your belongings now,” the stranger demanded. Ruby tried to make a run for it but all she could do was go through a tatty door. Was this her time to get out of that miniature alley way? Ruby took his hand of her mouth then ran and kicked open the tattered door. Ruby was shocked how she was capable of doing that. But there was no time to stop; a stranger was trying to take her belongings.
Chapter 2
Outside, fog coated the streets and thunder crackled like fire fireworks having a malfunction. Around her, Ruby saw the gloomy clouds and rain splashing but she had no were to hide. Old cans rolled around the floor, cobwebs attached to old office buildings and ruined furniture being left on the pavements. She had no chance of getting out of there. Behind her the stranger stood still then grabs a pocket knife and clutches onto it then grins.
…But in the darkness a loud roar sounded like booming thunder. Out of the shadows a huge predator came to her vision: black eyes shone; a coat of fur was waving; a flesh-ripper and most important thing was it’s a massive black bear it glares at the stranger. The man was stunned he couldn’t even move a muscle his sweat was dripping down his face even ruby was in shock. As it starts to stand up it growls at its prey. The black bear got back down and sat down then red juice rippled down his side the pain that the animal felt made Ruby feel her pain to.
Then a low worried voice started to speak “It’s time we leave to find the gateway,” Ruby was amazed its black bear speaking full sentences. Ruby looked back she nodded she would anything to help him find this gateway. “We are not in a safe area we must cover or else they will find me,” he whispered. Twenty minutes later, after a long walk Ruby finds a perfect place for hiding it was this hollow bush near a park. Bear yawned and got into a deep sleep but Ruby was sat watching: she wasn’t tired.
chapter 4
The river Thames (which snaked through the heart of London) flowed alongside the travellers. There were many roads out of the city. Ruby and Bear where heading north, along the Watford Road, towards the gateway.
The dark rain clouds grumbled overhead, Ruby was shivered. Glancing at the bear she began to worry; the bear was still bleeding from her wound. So, they were going at a slow speed.
As they headed to the gateway, figures were in the distance but bear was in agony. They had been targeted. Limping towards, the Bear started to make his way to the gateway. Tears filled up his eyes and were focusing on the gateway. A huge curved delicate platinum door was standing frozen like it was planted in the ground. Ruby, who had fear going through her, waited quietly for the Bear to proceed.
Through the platinum door, rich towering gold trees were never ending, translucent leaves were gliding and a lake of crystal blue water splashed against each other. It got darker; the crystal lake hardened then cracked into a million butterflies then they flew through the forest.
To their surprise, guards appeared they got ready to shoot the predator. The bear started to growl and so did Ruby. She felt her legs shaking but she felt that she’s was one with the bear. His eyes changed colour they turned into a neon red. The guards felt petrified and just stared, meaning they had enough time to get the creature through the gateway.
“Ruby it’s time I have to make my escape,” the bear said
They both looked at the gateway, they could see the tree, leaves and stars that dazzled in the forest. Streams of power hovered into the gateway. “Don’t worry I’ll see you again,” the bear whispered.
He stepped into the door and he kept on walking through a stream of darkness, through little balls of light and soon enough happiness was in her. She exploded into millions of glowing dandelions. Then Bear was gone.
The Bear would be with Ruby forever, walking alongside her, living in her imagination. Ruby felt much stronger as she headed to the checkpoint. Things were getting.
