Snuffles one eye
Chapter 1: a loud crash
It was a stormy midwinter’s eve in the redwater hutch and Snuffles was wide awake waiting for the midwinter guinea, he could hear his parents snores and the sound of his sister Coco sleep talking.
The next morning, he woke up, looked at the end of his bed and saw a sack full of presents, he took a peek and saw carrots and lettuce and loads of fun toys, he was ecstatic with joy. He hauled the sack downstairs and sat in front of the fire eating his breakfast pellets.
The guineas in the hutch, spent the rest of their morning singing midwinter carols, eating ginger biscuits and slurping their hot cabbage juice.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash and the inhabitants of the hutch shrieked and scattered. Snuffle’s father, who was the huches leader and was called Mighty Mike, peeked out of their wire mesh surrounding their home and announced to the tribe that pythagnosis was coming.
Mike ordered the children to gather their proudest possessions and run away with an older friend, Snuffle’s aunt grabbed him and his sister Coco and took them to her room, she gave Snuffle’s a sword and explained that the sword was the magic weapon of the hutch. She told them to run to the Grand Palace of Queen Sarah and stay there to wait for her to return and give them orders.
Chapter 2: The Grand Palace of Queen Sarah
Soon later, Snuffles and Coco arrived at the Palace. It had been a long journey and hard to leave their family, they had to sneak past Pythagonis’s tribe who bear it in mind were very powerful and bulky. On their way, they had taken two lunches from the mountains of meals and ate them on their journey.
When they arrived at the palace, they searched around for a key and eventually found one under the doormat. Silently, they crept in and sat down on the large, plush, red velvet sofa and waited for the Queen to arrive.
As they were waiting, they decided to look around the house. It was a right mess and there were what looked like snake bite marks and blood all around the rooms. About an hour later Queen Sarah arrived and looked not at all surprised or angry that they were in her Palace. The Queen looked weak and old, they were surprised to see her in such a state and asked her what had happened. She explained how Pythagonis had come and destroyed her home and how he had also attacked her husband, King Gareth.
Queen Sarah didn’t believe that her dear husband was dead or injured and thought that he had just merely run away to somewhere safe. Snuffles and Coco doubted that this was true but went along with it so as to not upset her.
The young guineas explained how Pythagonis had attacked their hutch and how their aunt had sent them here in trust that The Queen would keep them safe.
Chapter 3: The death of King Gareth
The next day, Snuffles, Coco and Queen Sarah journeyed to the grand castle of King Gareth to see if The Queen was right in saying he was fine. When they arrived, they knocked on the door and servant Steve popped his head round the door. He looked petrified, he had taken on a stutter and his clothes were ripped and dirty. He asked them to come in so they cautiously entered.
There was upturned furniture and the red and gold curtains were ripped. As they entered the kitchen, Snuffles noticed a large pool of blood on the floor and right next to it was King Gareth’s body…
Queen Sarah screamed and leant over her dead husband’s body. Suddenly, she started to cry and sob uncontrollably, she started to mutter to herself in a mad sort of way as though she couldn’t believe what her eyes were showing her.
Snuffles and Coco just stared at each other with an alarmed expression on their faces. All of a sudden, Queen Sarah shouted and told Coco and Snuffles to flee to Vegey valley tourist attraction to try and escape Pythagonis.
Chapter 4: Vegey valley
Snuffles and Coco ran, just as Queen Sarah had said, they were petrified and could not believe that so many people they loved were dead like his poor pops who only hoped for the best for his kids and now the King and maybe even their mother.
Soon they reached Vegey valley tourist attraction and were surprised to see that it was deserted, for it was usually packed full of tourists like rabbits and moles from neighbouring islands.
They searched around for a place to settle down for the night and eventually found a cosy patch of grass long enough to cover them up in case danger approached.
Suddenly, they heard an evil cackle, surely no one should be here at this time of night, it was 12 o’clock, the middle of the night. They looked up and saw a long tail sliding past them… Pythagonis had come to destroy Vegey valley.
Coco and Snuffles ran through the grass but the guards caught them and they were enclosed within a single metal cage…
Chapter 5: Pythagonis’ return
After Pythagonis had captured Snuffles and his sister they were taken to an underground cave below one of the hills. Pythagonis was a vicious being and so decided to punish Snuffles for sneaking into the valley, he took out a dagger and cut off Snuffles left eye.
They continued walking until they found a stall holding leaflets containing maps of Guinmark and Vegey Valley, they grabbed two and headed towards the exit of the tourist attraction park.
They sat down on a bench outside the park and studied their maps carefully in hope that they would find a place to stay for night without arguing about where it would be.
They eventually agreed on staying the night at the Mountains of meals so they wouldn’t get hungry. They travelled to the mountains and on the way they found a kindly old lady who was holding baskets full of hay and grass. She looked over at them and came over, she asked them if they were ok. She had a kind voice, it reminded Snuffles of their mother. The lady told them her name, Veronica, it had a nice ring to it. She invited them to her hutch and they accepted and so slept the night there.
The old woman didn’t speak much but she still fed them if they were hungry and gave them water if they were thirsty. They stayed there for the rest of the week and then decided to journey to Pinewood Palava Forest.
Chapter 5: Pinewood Palava
Soon Later as they were passing by the mysterious marsh, they heard a croaking sound. At first they ignored it but then it grew louder and louder. Suddenly, Coco shrieked and Snuffles looked down, there was a fat toad/frog sitting in front of them. Snuffles made an adoring noise and crouched down to stroke it. The frog croaked again making Snuffles nearly jump out of his skin. A few minutes later, there was a whole crowd of the creatures swarming in front of them.
About an hour later, Snuffles and Coco were following the frogs into Pinewood Palava forest. The frogs were leading the two guineas deep into the middle of the forest. Soon it grew dark and Snuffles and Coco found a place to settle down for the night, the frogs settled into a heap of leaves and mud next to them and they passed out for the night.
The next morning, they woke up to a smell of burning, they opened their eyes and saw a troup of fire fairies flying past. They said good morning to the fairies and started to prepare breakfast. In the afternoon, they decided to go back in the depths of the forest for a walk, they collected water from the nearby stream and set off. The frogs led them to a path and suddenly, they heard loud hissing and the sound of a tail sliding through the leaves. They hid behind a tree and waited. There in front of them was Pythagonis’s tribe…
Chapter 6: Keeping Mum
They sneakily followed the tribe into a large clearing and were amazed to see cages full of guinea pigs from all sorts of hutches, even their own.
Quietly, they backed away from the clearing and broke into a run. They stopped when they were about half a mile away from their camp and stopped for a rest. They spoke to each other and decided to Keep quiet about what they had just seen and not tell another living soul in case Pythagonis was to hear and come hunting for them. They also decided to come back the next day to come and release the guineas in the cages.
After they had woken from a long night’s sleep, they packed their bags and set off for the clearing. Soon after, they arrived and were relieved to see that the tribe weren’t there and were surprised to see that they were careless enough to leave a key loop full of keys on the floor.
They grabbed the keys and ran around to first of all unlock everyone in their own hutch, after a minute of unlocking, they reached the last two cages where they were delighted to find their mother and auntie enclosed inside. Their mother looked up and started to cry, quickly they unlocked her container and let her out. She started to say something but they couldn’t hear through her sobs. It sounded something like your father was dead, soon all of them were crying except their aunt, still waiting to be released. Quickly Coco snatched the key off Snuffles and unlocked their aunt too.
Chapter 7: Safe at last
Suddenly, there was a loud pop and Queen Sarah arrived into mid air.
Snuffles, Coco, their Mother and Auntie’s mouth was wide open, Queen Sarah shut their mouths and looked relieved that they were all safe, she took hold of their arms and teleported them back to their hutch. On the floor, there were about five dead bodies and pools of blood on the carpet, furniture was tipped over and the pillows were ripped and torn, with a swish of her hand, Queen Sarah had tidied everything up and the bodies were gone.
With another swish of her hand, the whole hutch was newly refurbished and looking grander than ever. Queen sarah was gone with another pop once again with all the other guineas left behind.
They all rejoiced over a feast and the guineas of the hutch lived happily.
“More, More!” shouted the guineas of the hutch but the old Guinea got up and went over to the table for more food and sat down next to another old Guinea. “Nice story Snuffles!” “Well I thought they needed to know the truth.”
