the firedrake dragon

it’s deep blue beady eyes pierced my soul,

observing  the unforgiving night.

huge leathery wings flapped in the icy air,

flying higher and higher like a kite.

sharp claws deeper and deeper into it’s pathetic prey,

splattering blood on every inch of a towering tree,

sharp teeth-like spikes jutted up down a scaly back,

cutting the skin that belongs to me.

an elongated tale wagged as if giving a warning,

making the whole forest shake and shiver.

a fiery coloured tongue wrapped around me,

making me look like a strange figure.

flames burst out lighting the dark night.

you are a firedrake dragon,

flap your wings and take to flight.

  1. This is a great piece of writing, Aoife. I like the imagery you have used as well as the occasional rhyme. Well done, I look forward to reading more of your writing.

  2. this is a very good piece of writing but check some mistakes next time!
