The Mask of Colours
The Mask of Colours
I put on the mask of colours and saw
Chameleons hiding from eagles, gliding through the sky
and snakes slithering along the jungle floor.
I wore the mask of pink and could taste raspberry
flavoured candy floss and saw blossoms in the distant
field.
I wore the mask of shadows and heard a silent whisper,
a howl of wind and saw the structure of my shadow staring
back at me.
I wore the mask of autumn and saw the red, gold and green
leaves falling off the barren trees, screaming as they fall.
