Mila and the book of wonders Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“My name is Crystal Johnson,” he said, staring at Mila until shifted uncomfortably from the book. “This is my shop. Do you like it?” said Mr Johnson? Mila didn’t know what to say so she nodded her head. “This is my book, the Book of Wonders. You are free to touch anything or see anything but DO NOT TOUCH MY BOOK!!”

Some minutes later, Mr Johnson had vanished with his long coat and his snake pet behind a wall and Mila was left alone. Mila turned back and opened the book. Each page had a different solution and idea for some incredible word. There were writings and stories about countries, cities, forests, haunted homes, oceans and lots more stuff. In each place there were very interesting things about every single object.

The next thing that was in Mila’s hand was a sketch pen. and she was sketching a mountain and animals. Then she drew an outline of a cottage close to the mountain.

“This way,” said the snake. Mila closed the book and without saying a word she obeyed. She opened the door and entered. She took a big step not into a room but into a mountain and for a minute she paused and listened. Everything was quite still for a moment ,except for the birds moving pass. The strangest thing that happened was everything looked like she drew in the book.. Without looking back and with little concern Mila ran into a cottage beside the mountain.

Seconds later, her heart began to pound so fast. The cottage had everything a human could need like: a cosy bed to sleep in; a kitching with a big stove;  and lots more interesting stuff. “Hello,” called Mila is anyone in here she said, wandering around to see if she could find anyone but there was total silence.

Some moments later, she heard the sound of a  dish being broken. She went to the kitchen and pushed the back door and there she saw it. A reflection of a black shadow walking towards her direction Mila locked the door and as far as her leg could take her she ran through the pathway back towards the door. But there was nothing there except from the mountains  stretching endlessly. The shadows without meaning kept on coming, “Come back,” hissed a voice behind her.
