The getaway

Chapter 4- The getaway

Footsteps were slowly starting to trail towards her, and Ella began to panic. Her eyes scanned the room for a way to escape, but there was only a murky hole which smelt like sewage and decomposing food. Ella looked behind her and she could see a dark silhouette in the distance. Her feet had turned numb, and she felt like she couldn’t move.  Then everything started to turn black. Ella was hallucinating.

She blinked her eyes frantically then looked up and saw a frail, old woman with crooked teeth standing over her dauntingly. Ella let out a deafening shriek which echoed around the whole room.  Ella darted towards the hole. She took a deep breath and jumped down. The tough ground scratched her thighs, and she noticed the excruciating cuts slowly forming on her legs. She spotted a vibrant door in the distance. Relieved, Ella grabbed the door handle which (she hoped) lead to the Emporium. As she stepped inside, Ella felt the velvet red carpet.  Dabbing her wounded knee with her cardigan, she brushed away the tears that were developing in her eyes. She bandaged her leg up, like a dedicated nurse would do for an injured patient.

Luciano saw Ella curled up like an injured hedgehog on the floor. He dropped the metallic vase he was painting and glanced at Ella’s knee. “What has happened to you? He questioned. Ella pointed to her knee and sobbed at the sight of it. “My goodness, I better get you a plaster!” Gently, Luciano placed the plaster on Ella’s knee. “How was your world?” Luciano remarked. Ella didn’t have the energy to speak so she put her thumbs up and sighed. “I think you have had enough for today!” Luciano chuckled.  Ella nodded her head and strolled to the door. “Come again another day! “Luciano said holding the door open. Ella strolled outside tugging her cardigan other her arms due to the chilliness outside.
