A Rainbow of Masks
A Rainbow of Masks
I wore the a red mask and saw
a petal from a Valentines rose,
blood from a gory horror story
and chilli running down my t-shirt.
I wore the orange mask and saw
an apricot that made me hungry,
basketballs that people were shooting in the hoop
and tiny goldfish swimming in the tank.
I wore a yellow mask and saw
dandelions blooming in the sun,
butter on my knife to make a sandwich
and ducks swimming in the river.
I wore a green mask and saw
a prickly cactus jagging my hand,
a spearmint tingling my tongue
and leaves falling from the branches.
I wore a blue mask and saw
the Pacific Ocean waving in the distance,
a roaring gas flaming fire
and my dad’s lovely blue jeans.
I wore a white mask and saw
a pile of snow when I walked outside,
an empty bottle of talcum powder
and a cloud of fluffy sheep fur.
I wore a black mask and saw
a bat hanging from a tree branch,
a crow flying across the sky
and a flat tyre on the road.
