The Dynamite
Prologue
You’ve probably sailed on a skyship over clear, calm, turquoise waters on a family daytrip to a desert island to have a picnic before. When you went there would have been luscious blue skies and green, dewy grass. It would have been a peaceful relaxing journey of a lifetime, sailing over the sea and hanging off the side, reaching down and trying to touch the water. Travelling in the summer is like that.
But travelling on an deathly voyage is nothing like that. Your skyship is rocking back and forth as sky goblins attack and paralysed bodies drop out like stones falling into the sea, you get into battles with the guardians of the pyramids as you try to get through. You carefully scrape past knives jabbing, trying to puncture your inflatable balloon. That is what it is like on an expedition.
Chapter one
The crowds gasped as the Dynamite rose up high into the air and stopped for a moment as if poised to jump into the sky, then lurched off above the clouds, Captain Rosie grinned with great enthusiasm as she wondered what this journey would bring.
Ava and Kai stared down wistfully as the skyship rose higher and higher every second. Far below, they could see and the masses of crowds that were yelling “DYNAMITE! DYNAMITE!” Which was the ship’s name, until they were covered by the oncoming mist.
They could hear the whistling wind over the constant flapping of the sail. Shouting farewell to the heaving mass of crowds, the siblings wondered what their adventure would bring. Ava laughed with glee, overjoyed to be back on an expedition again. Inside, she felt unsure and nervous, and her heart seemed to skip a beat. Would they survive?
After 2 hours the Dynamite was sailing high above the clouds and it was very peaceful and relaxing. Kai gazed into the thick mist and wondered what the journey would bring. Ava whispered quietly “I wonder if we’ll ever find Amber Eden?”
Kai tightened his grip against the side of the ship, “I hope we don’t find anything troublesome this time, last time we almost got killed by sky goblins and cloud elves!”
That evening, the weather turned. The wind swirled around them like a tornado, and they had to take shelter because it was too cold, the moon shone onto the deck like a massive light bulb in the misty sky. Ava lay in her bed, tired from day’s exciting events, would they ever make it home?
