Over the years
Over the years by Bella SWW
On the Island of January,
I watched as heavy snow fell gently across the frozen floor,
I watched the joyful new year’s lights brighten up the Island.
On the Island of February,
I heard the sad rain pattering on the deserted roads,
I heard the wind thrashing against the lonely houses.
On the Island of March,
I felt spring seeping through,
I felt a cool breeze of anticipation.
On the Island of April,
I watched as more daffodils grew sluggishly, covering the island
I watched as eggs hatched and curious chirpers observed their surroundings.
On the Island of May,
I felt the fresh warm air, gingerly blowing against my face,
I felt the rich grass tickling against my toes.
On the Island of June,
I could smell the scent of fresh barbeques,
I could smell the scent of summer.
