Chapter 2 :the Treacherous town and Chapter 3 : the baby goblin
Chapter 2
Dom stared in terror as the ground came closer and closer towards them. They were plummeting down to what looked like an abandoned, demolished town. Captain R Pearce fought with the steering wheel, trying his best to take back control from the Cloud-mist so that he could land safely at the town hall. By Dom’s side, Mia ran across the ship holding a silver hammer, trying to fend off a weird, maroon creature from the top of the balloon. Its gigantic emerald rings glistened through the fabric making an irreversible tear, like a bloody wound out of which spilled the grey air that had kept them in the sky.
With a loud groan, the skyship jolted down, landing in a place called Treacherous town. Mia had finally been able to fend off the maroon Bigfoot and it had flown all the way back to the stormy clouds. Dom glanced over the side at the dark town that coated the broken skyship. He saw three scary things: the wind blowing down the trees, howling in their ears, a mysterious shadow that was as dark as the midnight sky and a skeleton staring at them, with empty eyes.
Mia too gazed at the demolished town. Behind her were broken, marble buildings which were probably magnificent once upon a time but now, they stood in sadness. In a dark courtyard, countless pillars appeared, wooden doorways stood half open and gigantic, sad windows looked down. In an empty hallway stood a decaying statue of some Greek forgotten god. On a field, there were multiple non-functioning water fountains. The whole place was frightfully silent and mostly empty as the sky storm drifted to the south. The night sun had already begun to cast awkward shadows and a freezing wind blew objects across the town.
Half an hour later, the siblings found themselves sitting in boredom by themselves as the others had already left in search of materials to mend the balloon, giving instructions that the children should NOT leave the ship. Dom and Mia sat on the deck, staring into the pitch black. A few glistening stars had appeared and the plain white moon shone brightly above them. Suddenly they heard a thud.
Chapter 3
Something was climbing up the side of the skyship’s wooden hull! Dom, whose face was as white as a ghost, crawled backwards and slipped into an empty compartment but Mia dashed to the edge and glanced into the darkness below. She could just make out a silhouette of something -or someone- crawling up the hull. It was quite miniature and had smoke-grey eyes. It halted and looked up at her. “It’s a baby goblin,” she called, “but it is hurt.”
Mia, whose brow frowned with focus, reached down to grab its spread hand and pulled it onto the deck. “It must’ve been hurt in the storm.”
The baby goblin was trembling with coldness and whimpering. Dom rushed to get the ship’s blanket, wondering if the goblin’s mother would be happy to know that they saved her child. Mia spoke calmly and softly to the baby hoping that Captain R Pearce would not shout at them for what they had done!
