Chapter 4:The creature

After a couple of hours , the workers had re-appeared and sewn the skyship’s humongous balloon. They hovered in the sparkly night sky, with only the night as a map. Mia,who  had found a mini compartment for the baby goblin to lay in,was thinking about how the baby had been left in this deserted town. It had eaten loads and drifted into a deep sleep almost instantly.

Dom stared into space on the deck, alone, wondering whether he would arrive home again. The stars cast a shimmer onto the ship and the moon was barely shining through. Mia finally came up to be with him. She thought that she would never get tired of the wind blowing on her and the massive skyship moving swiftly just below the silver-lined clouds.

Within a nanosecond, they heard a screech. Something or someone was climbing up the skyship’s hull.Mia grabbed Dom’s hand and threw him on the floor.By themselves, they halted in their tracks. What could it be?  Dom,who held his breath, hoped it wasn’t the goblin’s mother- scorched with anger!

Glancing over the edge, Dom could make out a peculiar shape that appeared to be grabbing the wooden hull. Dom,who trembled ,  whispered to his sibling “I cannot see what it is… but it looks a little larger than normal. Come here and look- is that an eye?”

Captain R Pearce, who emerged behind them ,looked over the rails and laughed,

“That’s the landing ship’s light. It’s a tiny flying craft that sometimes we use if we don’t want to crash the whole ship. You two need to get in your beds before you start imagining other crazy stuff.”

Half an hour later, they  both dreamt of goblins, skyships and crazy adventures. The Cloud-mist drove on swiftly through the night sky, towards the morning adventures.

One Response to “Chapter 4:The creature”

  1. I loved the description in this chapter! It was great and I really like the description of the sky in it.
What other things did they dream of? Perhaps, next time use even more description to build up the tension!
