Embracing the Local

It doesn’t have to be the cherry blossoms

budding in the afternoon sun,

or the high-rise buildings

gleaming like precious jewels,

or the  flashes of green and red

flitting  in the sapphire sky.

It could be the jagged grass

covered by the gleaming dew,

or the setting sun

as its radiant beams descend further into the distance,

or the morning–chirper’s melodies

echoing throughout the day.

Notice everything from a new perspective,

even the most trite things have their own secrets.

Look at objects from a different viewpoint

like the clouds shape-shifting

in the sky’s blue hues.
