The Cobramander
The Cobramander is one out of many species of mander. It is closely related to the Wormamander and the Adderamander.
Cobramanders are not easily mistaken. Their skin is a gleaming red and their eyes are like emeralds. They have long fangs that are full of deadly poison. If you are bitten by one of these fangs your life is at an end in less than 1 second! Cobramanders are 80 feet long! Wierdly, they are still able to hide quietly and not be seen.
Cobramanders are carnivores. They eat big cats and humans! There is sometimes the odd one that is a herbivore but they are mostly all carnivores. They can strip a giraffe down to the bare bones in 5 seconds, so you would not want to meet one of these when it is hungry! Cobramanders can last a month without water but can only last a week without food.
They mostly live in jungles and savannahs. If a cobramander lived in a jungle, they would slither up a tree and wait for a lion or another big cat to come past. Then they would jump out the tree, onto their prey and devour it. If a cobramander lives in the desert they would bury themselves into the sand until only the eyes can be seen. Then the same thing would happen. They would wait for some creature to walk past and then would leap out the sand and eat their prey.
Cobramanders have only one threat. Humans! All the time poachers are coming to kill them for their poison to use in battles. People are concerned that the cobramanders will get angry and come and attack the villages and towns. This has not happened yet, but a majority of people are very concerned that is might happen. Some people think that the poachers should be stopped and put in prison. They have made a Cobramander Society that helps protect cobramanders.
