Chapter 4

Chapter 4 – The return

Ethan walked back to the place where he had entered this new world but the door had disappeared. He searched for another door and found a cave. Ethan wanted to continue searching but his curiosity took over and he started to walk inside. It was dark but surprisingly warm and it had a weird smell. Unfortunately, he was afraid of the dark and didn’t have any source of light. He could hear a mysterious sound behind him and ran to the end of the cave without checking for stones underneath him.

He ran and ran through the scary, dark cave until he reached a door at the end. Desperately, he needed to stop and take a deep breath but he kept running anyway. Grabbing the door handle as hard as he could, he pulled the door open. Exhausted, Ethan sat on the hard ground, gasping for air. The door was gone. The corridor was bright. He was in the emporium again. Shocked, he crept back through the door where the shopkeeper was stood there waiting for him.

“Ah, you’re back! Did you find what you wanted to find?” She asked. Ethan shook his head. “Well, the past can’t be undone. Come again another day.” She said.

He stepped outside then turned around, wanting to wave goodbye, but the emporium had disappeared. Oh well, he thought to himself, she might be back tomorrow. But she never returned.

Fresh cut grass

If I were summoned to create a treasure, I would take:

the smell of fresh cut grass, the chirping of birds and the sound of a child’s laughter,

the wind blowing through the trees, the sound of a clock ticking and the smell of sunflowers when they bloom,

the roar of a lion, a shooting star and snowflakes falling down in the cold winter air,

the sun beaming down on us in the summer, the sound of thunder rumbling above and the feather of a peacock,

a wish from a magic well, the horn of a unicorn and the shadow of a dragon.

The random poem.

I stood in the room of magic mirrors and stared at my reflection before the mirrors cracked.

In the room of letters, every word I spoke appeared in front of me.

I stood in the room of colourful chairs and made a tower out of them.

In the room of books, the pages flapped like a seagull’s wings.

I stood in the room of perfect poems and all of my words turned into poems.

In the room of clouds, the clouds turned into candy floss and I ate them.

A small creature.

Something was moving around in the bushes. Layla, whose body froze, stared in horror but Michael crept towards the bush to see what it was. He could just barely see a yellow tail poking out of the bush. The creature was small and had blue eyes. It sat down and stared at him. “It’s a baby unicorn,” he yelled, “I think its lost.” Layla, who crept towards it carefully, watched its big, blue eyes stare at her. “It’s adorable!”

The baby unicorn was smiling at them and waving its golden hair around. Layla dashed towards the ship to make a bed for it, wondering if it’s parents knew it was here.

The airship crashes.

Layla gazed outside and suddenly froze in horror when she saw an************ staring at her. They were flying towards it and couldn’t stop; it was going to attack their ship. The captain tried to turn the ship around but it was going too fast and they crashed into the dragon. By Layla’s side, Ella stood hoping that someone would save them, while she tried to forget about the dragon attacking their ship. The dragon eventually left, but their ship was falling quickly.

With a loud thud, the ship fell onto the ground. Luckily, no one was hurt. A group of people saw them fall and ran over to help. They were in a village now and Layla could see: the blinding sun shinning down on them, snowy mountains and towering trees watching them.

All around them, wooden houses stood there, covered in plants. They were small, old and very dangerous to live in. In a far corner, a statue stared at them; it looked like it was thousands of years old. It was a very busy place even though there weren’t a lot of houses. The moon had started to come out now and they had no idea what to do.

What would happen to them if they stayed here?

Should dodos be hunted?

Should dodos be hunted?

We are discussing whether or not dodos should be hunted. This is a big thing at the moment because the dodos are running around schools and children are scared.

Many people believe that dodos should be hunted because they are jumping on little kids and making them cry. Additionally, they’re attacking animals like cats, dogs and rabbits. Furthermore, they are breaking into cars and rolling them down hills when people aren’t looking and sometimes the cars can’t be fixed at all. Finally, people believe they should be hunted because they make a lot of noise that keep people awake at night.

On the other hand, people believe they shouldn’t be hunted because they don’t do harm to humans so they can keep them as pets. Moreover, they’re probably going to go extinct again anyway – especially with busy roads and houses being built everyday. Furthermore, scientists are trying to catch them and train them to get along with humans. In addition to this, they don’t live very long so they will probably be forgotten after a couple of months.

In the end, we believe that they shouldn’t be hunted because they’re going to go extinct again anyway and if they don’t, then scientists will catch them and train them to fit in with the modern.

Where’s her step sister?

Shannon stared into her step sister’s room. On the floor -in the middle of the room- there was a small desk with one flickering candle that looked as bright as the twinkling stars outside. Beside it, there was a bright red pen and dark green post it notes. On the ceiling, there were five star shaped stickers that were as black as the night sky. Under the bed, she saw an empty match box and she could smell the melted candle wax. Where was her step sister?
