The Snow Giant

The snow giants are starting to become very legendary. Less people are seeing them and more people are starting to look for them because the first person to find one and take a photo of it gets the cash prize. 

Have you ever seen or even caught a Snow Giant? If yes then you must have very good eyesight because if you have ever seen a picture of one then you can see that they only come out in the snow and are white so they camouflage and no-one can see them. Kenzie-lee Smith wanted to go back home but at the same time he didn’t because of the war. He glared out of the loft window(well it was not a window it was a hole).He was in a quiet countryside with lots of kids and carers that are very nice. He stared at the white, snowy field miles and miles away. He missed home, he missed his Mum, Dad and brother James. He  looked out of the window into the woods daydreaming about the war in France.In the loft  was where Miss Jones’s son slept but he was in the war, every time someone mentioned something about him or the war she would start to tear up. Kenzie -lee would never mention it because he thinks that  Miss Jones is a good carer and she has been with him since he got there. 

Mainly he would either be bored at school doing handwriting ( his handwriting was very bad ) or spelling for a few hours. When he would come home from school he would help Miss Jones with growing the vegetables and picking out the new ones. He would sometimes help with picking the weeds out of the garden. There wasn’t a front garden because Miss Jones said that someone from the war can come and take you. So we always stay in the back garden. It has a lock on the back gate so no one can get in and the front door has a lock on it so no one goes into the house without permission. He would clean  up the chickens at night and put the pig to bed and get the chickens and pig up in the morning.On some days he would get the eggs that the chickens had laid and clean up the pig and give it a shower or wash it (only when it is muddy ). In the school that he goes to there are no days off so he would be in school everyday working hard with a piece of paper and a scratchy pen that barely even works. He sat right at the front so that when the bell rings he would be the first one to get out and get home. 

Every night Kenzie-lee would sit at the hole and watch the fields miles away, but one night he caught Miss Jones sneaking out with a lantern in her hands and walked into the woods. He thought nothing of it but then he would make it a routine to sit at the hole every night and watch as she went into the woods with her lantern. One night she caught him and told him to not say anything about what he

saw that night and he listened and forgot about it in the morning. A few weeks after watching Miss Jones go out she caught him again and told him to get a lantern and follow her . So I was done  as I was told and went downstairs and got a lantern and followed her. 

At the back of her was Kenzie -lee following her to the woods. They arrived and found a cub hiding in fear so we petted it and went back every single day to check on it. They  eventually found a name for it, Lilly. They  fed it and gave it water. As time passed, the cub was no longer a cub. When it got a bit too big it became a lot harder for them to look after her as it became strong and mighty. 

One day it became fierce and didn’t remember him and padded over to him whilst he froze in fear.

Dear Mam,

Thanks for the extra jacket and food they kept me right warm(especially the hot jacket potato).

It was a good journey but was very cramped and I had no room to even move my finger. Thanks for the flask of water I still have a bit left after the long ride to the countryside. The arrival was pretty rough because a lot of people were in the tram so it took ages to get out because I was at the very back squashed. 

Once we got there we all stood in a line and the head girl  counted us and then put us into pairs of 4s. I was with two girls and one boy. Some people went off into another house, there were very big houses so that we could fit us all in. We all have a teacher or an adult staying with us 

Anywho, I am staying with Miss Jones in the little room of the attic. She has lots of food and games for when we are bored. She has Combat Commander as well (that is the best game in the whole world) . We can get water from the well, it is not too deep so we can just get a bucket and dig up some water. We had to wash our hands before anything.(it was right freezin). She wouldn’t let us in until our hands were sparkling clean . Then she made us all a hot cup of hot chocolate .

They are very big and are in Ribchester. We are in a little room off the attic. Every time I have to go to the bathroom we always have to go down 3 staircases to  get to the bathroom. It is very annoying. Every night I always pray that dad beatsMr ****** and little Duncan is ok. Every morning I am woken by a racket because half of the children wake up very early in the morning and start messing around. In the backyard there are chickens, roosters, and 1 pig called betty. Betty is very old so every morning I go downstairs into the kitchen,get some food and then feed the chickens and Betty. 

The good thing about this cottage is that the attic has a window so we can see the sunset rising in the morning and the other cottages. They have provided food and drink for us,for if we run out of the food our parents sent us. They have a chest of drawers with blankets in with our names on so nobody steals someones. The cottage is on top of a hillside.There are always cows walking on the field.  We live at the top of Cecil street. 

The country side that we are at in Ribchester is very quiet unlike the city you are in because there is no bombing and fighting. There is very little space for all the evacuees like me, There are 3 storeys so if there is only little room for all of us to stay (because there is A LOT of people staying in 2 houses) 

The school is very nice. You can have breakfast,Lunch and Dinner The

teachers are very nice. They let us write letters to our family during eating time and in the middle of the day. The school is on top of the hill and there are shops and we get pocket money to go to the shop to get more food. Miss Jones sends me to school with a PB and J sandwich. It was very nice and I ate it all up. Sometimes for a treat I will get a carrot. The kids here are very nice and talented.

I wish that little Duncan is OK and Dad beats Mr ****** I hope you are ok and safe with the fighting. Please write back to me. Goodnight.

The happiness poem.

My happiness is made from- 

The colours of the rainbow,

The bees buzzing on the searing summer flowers,

Butterflies flying a little bit too high,

The field full of beautiful buttercups, 

The joy of my friends,

The love of my parents,

The laughter of my siblings,

And the exploration of the forest.

I found it-

Dancing in the middle of the moonlit street,

Trapped in a piece of paper in the dark corner of the empty room,

Dying in the corner of the escape room,

Skipping in the dark cupboard.

This happiness can-

Force open a heart of iron,

End a child’s sadness,

See a loved one in the sky,

Turn someone’s sadness into joy.

If i lost this happiness-

The pot of gold would not be at the bottom of the rainbow.

The light bolts sparkle,like glitter on a cold winter’s night. Pirates are getting blinded by the beautiful lights. As the silver sunset sets, the light bolts start to fade. Fading like dying flames. The hull brighter than the sun on a delightful Monday morning. The deck screamed with joy because of how bright the fairy lights were. The coils of light die as the fairy lights hang around it. Sizzle went in the portholes.
