The Cadmus dragon

BREAKING NEWS!

On Monday 5th of July, an innocent dog walker was walking in Antony woods when they suddenly were knocked over by a blurr. Kylie, 47 was knocked unconscious for at least half an hour. Eventually, she woke up and stated that:

“An ugly winged creature was staring down at me, blood dripping vigorously from its jagged teeth.” Luckily, Kylie-and her dog- managed to scramble away and ring the police. They have currently cordoned off the “dangerous” area and specialists are hunting for this beast.

There have been several other sightings around the world; mainly in forests or woods. Some describe it as “a danger to human society” whereas others say “it is a spirit animal here to make peace.”

However, based on the sightings around the world we now know that:

  • “It has eyes as black as opals”
  • “Jagged talons that can easily rip wood into shreds”
  • “Teeth that stick out,  perfect for stabbing its prey first then chewing it”
  • “Nostrils that flare when angry”
  • “Wings that stretch out  like bow-string by the forceful arm of some strained bold archer”

Thanks to brave researchers we have also been able to find this information. Its talons are sharp bee stings every time they pierce your skin forcing that limb of your body to be paralysed. They use their cunning  sense of smell to guide them as they do not have very good eyesight.

You are warned. If you see one of these, back away slowly. Specialist scientists are calling these the Cadmus — Greek meaning “dragon teeth.”

BE CAREFUL!

The Enchanted Emporium-Chapter 4!

The Enchanted Emporium-Chapter 4!

Her heart was beating like a drum. How did that just happen? She had almost gotten killed by something that was thought to be impossible! 10 minutes later, Hazel had darted out of the shop and closed the door with such force that she thought the whole building would crumble in front of her! That book was supposed to bring your dreams true, not shatter them!  Hazel thought. Then again, I wasn’t actually supposed to be writing in it so maybe it was just a mistake? Hazel was torn between two sides. However, she knew one thing: Hazel was never going back there again!

                          *************************************

Early in the morning, Hazel found her legs bringing her in front of the Emporium or where it should  be anyway? She was sure this was where the mystical shop should be but it wasn’t! That’s impossible! However, this was the Emporium where she was chased by a hooded monster that she was talking about.  Shops just don’t disappear though!  Hazel looked around making sure that it hadn’t just swapped streets or something. Glumly, she started trooping back. Then, out of the corner of her eye, there was a kingfisher in the middle of the street. What was a kingfisher doing in Plymouth?

Before she turned around she could have sworn the kingfisher had a twinkle in its eye. She had seen that before! It was Mr Kingfisher! She beamed at the Kingfisher and ran towards it.

“Not here,” it whispered.

They turned into a putrid-smelling alleyway. The kingfisher blurred and as soon as Hazel blinked it was Mr Kingfisher.

“The Emporium cannot bring back the past, Hazel. It can bring happiness in other ways though,” he boomed.

“But, that, that, that thing!” Hazel cried.

“Ahh, yes they are called soul-suckers. They suck happiness out of people’s memories,” Mr Kingfisher said sadly. He turned to leave.

“No, wait where are you going?” Hazel asked.

“The Enchanted Emporium will be there whenever you need it,” He said and with that he was gone. Hazel was left dumb-struck. Then, she smiled into the distance.

The Enchanted Emporium-Chapter 2

“Mum, Dad!” Hazel bellowed. The noise bounced across the walls of the cottage like it was made of sponge. “Mum, Dad!” Hazel called again, her voice quavering a little. “Mum, Dad, anyone,” she whispered, a tear trickling down her cheek. However, she decided she will be brave. They’re probably just having a walk. Hazel thought to herself.

To take her mind off it, she looked around and it was just as she remembered! The sinking couch in the corner; the ancient TV; the little fairytale stool to the side and

the miniature sink that she would wash up in. The sink used to make bubbles that would float up, up, up until eventually they would burst: like everything in Hazel’s life. Her parents died in a car crash when she was seven and she got taken away to live in an orphanage.

Out of the blue, her brain told her to shout for them again: “Mum, Dad!” she yelled. Without warning, there was a scraping noise from the cellar and a noise that sounded like dragging. Then, in a flash, a grumbling and hissing sound came from right behind her. Swiftly, she turned around, a hooded figure was looming above her with a face like a shrivelled piece of coal. Hazel didn’t have time to scream; she just ran. Through the cottage, through the clearing, of the stepping stones and out of the door. She let out a huge sigh. She was safe. For now.

The Enchanted Emporium

The Enchanted Emporium!

Prologue

There are some places that you forget about. The Enchanted Emporium was like that.

Even though, people would encounter magical people. Even though they would see wondrous things that no-one had ever seen before. Even though they would be lost in their own happiness. Even though their face was aching because of the gargantuan smile. Even though they would have the time of their lives.

That was until a girl came along. A girl called Hazel.

Chapter 1

Hazel peered through the shop window, curious as ever. Through the misty glass, there was the most amazing thing Hazel had ever seen. There were rainbow sweets towering above her like a skyscraper, jewels encrusting the walls and the most amazing, gold entwined book. She just had to enter! Eagerly, she stepped inside.

She gazed at everything in awe! It was full to the brim with little fantasies, her eyes were shining like a light had just turned on in them. To her left, she saw a silver cage of magpies that fluttered their wings and squawked joyously, clocks soothingly ticking away the time, stuffed animals that smiled at you and necklaces from faraway, supernatural lands. She peered around more, Hazel could see tropical fish with scales as bright as the sun and a blossoming cherry tree with leaves as green as can be with flowers smelling dreamily. However, what caught Hazel’s eye the most was the gold entwined book she walked towards it tentatively. Just before her fingers were going to brush the cover a voice boomed from what seemed to be behind her.

“I see you have found my book of enchantments.” Hazel turned around rapidly. She gasped.  “I am Mr Kingfisher and I ask you to only touch what is for sale,” he said quietly but firmly.

If I were summoned to create a treasure.

If I were summoned to create a treasure,
I would take:

1 million stars from the midnight sky,
The rain droplets from a ferocious thunder cloud,
And lava sucked out from the very core of the earth.

The matted fur of a wise stag,
The strength of the beating wings from an eagle,
And a towering giant redwood tree’s bark.

The taste of chocolate oozing in your mouth,
The smell of a brand new book,
And the sound of the rain pattering gently on the roof.

The gushing water from Niagara falls,
The sight of new life sprouting from soil,
And the calmness of a small stream trickling.

The quietness of the radiant countryside,
The majestic views of Cornwall,
And the sound of the birds singing their joyous song.

The energy from a sugar rush,
The anger from the erupting volcanoes,
And the speed of Usain Bolt.

The intricacy of a butterfly’s wing,
The prettiness of a cherry blossom tree,
And the shining rays of the sun.

The choking dust of the sahara desert,
The freshness of baked bread from the oven,
And the smell of chestnuts crackling on the open fire.

Cloudflyer-THE LAST EPISODE!

Cloudflyer-Episode four.

I whispered words of reassurance in Emerald’s ears and she seemed to listen because we started to speed up once more. Fortunately, the fire dragon seemed to realise that when we went to the heroic cloudflyer,  it would be no match for him so he turned back. This meant that Emerald could finally relax and ease her smooth as butter wings. Once we reached the cloudflyer, I shouted from the top of my lungs and it immediately slowed down and came gently yet swiftly towards us.  Being the captain of the ship, I could jump straight on but getting Emerald on was extremely harder! It took 5 of the crew to heave her on with all our might! Once we did that, I looked around. There was still the same peeling paint, the same splintery floor and the same warm-hearted cockpit but for some reason it felt different but then it felt like I was bouncing from cloud to cloud once more.

I dreamt that I flew on Emerald around the world. Next to the long-lasting great china wall, around the ancient pyramids,  through the majestic coral reefs, around the towering statue of liberty and under deep, dark tunnels. It was so nice to be with Emerald…

I woke with a start when I heard a scream.

“Get that dragon of my ship!” someone screamed. I ran out.

“Nooooo! That’s Emerald!” I shouted.

“This is MY ship and who are you? There was a lady with a captain hat on and tight boots. MY captain hat and MY captain boots!

“No, who are you?” I say.

“ I am the captain of this ship! And I never said that you could put a dragon on here!” she shouted. It went on like this for a while and eventually I sadly agreed that Emerald was not fit for a ship like this. I whisperd in Emerald’s ear to sat safe for one last time. As if Emerald could hear, she blinked her Emerald eyes once more, flapped her huge wings and flew off into the distance…

THE END.

Christmas dragon!

Christmas Dragon

Christmas dragons are very friendly towards well-behaved children and are often extravagant when it comes to delivering presents. An examples of this is,  writing to them saying they’re good and then dropping lot’s of presents down chimneys.

What they look like?

Would you be able to recognise a Christmas dragon if you saw one? If not, then with this description you can! They have joy-filled eyes – sought of a hazelnut colour , wrapping paper scales, long, curved candy cane nails and their most thrilling feature of all: their tail! It is encrusted with peppermints which is perfect for self defence and a nice snack every now and then.

Where do they live?

It is rumoured that, Christmas Dragons live in the North Pole and are fed by Santa if they deliver the presents so he doesn’t have too. Naturally, many people believe this is not true because they cannot face the truth, but who knows?

Are they dangerous?

Many people surmise that they are not, but they can be very vicious at times! This is mainly in self defence though a few people have been attacked or haven’t came back… Be careful if you see one…!
