The day had finally come. The day the world stopped. The day the world ended. Something had happened that made the world go crazy, the world was a rollercoaster but it only went down meanwhile the amount of disappearances went up. A creature from the depths of the underworld had escaped the pits of hell. A creature named the Grim. Brother and sister, Alex and Ellie knew all about the newest disappearances since the creatures main target for now was their home town, Cymeria. Unlike the Government itself they knew exactly what the disappearances were like. It had just past 7pm when they were playing in there room when they heard a scream, a blood-curdling scream that shocked them to their core. The scream of their parents. Fear engulfed them, they didn’t dare move. They knew exactly what had happened but still they didn’t want to believe it. The Grim had happened.
It had been a week since the incident, but instead of being sent to live in a foster home they moved in with their best friend Oliver. It was only temporary but none of them planned to stay for long anyway. After what had happened, Oliver, Ellie and Alex all decided it was too dangerous to stay, there story was just beginning. They knew the only way to stay safe was to stay as far away from the creature as possible until it stopped creating havoc. They planned out a journey by printing out a map of the local area and drawing their path to safety. Soon after a long day of mentally preparing themselves they left a note to Oliver’s mum explaining why they were gone before plucking up the courage to begin there trek to Spirt Wood. They knew it would be a long trip, luckily the sky was clear however there were some clouds in the sky so they knew it wouldn’t last long, it was like a little warning letting them know they had to be quick. It was a long journey and this was only a quarter of how far they had to go overall the entire journey would take them days! It wasn’t long till they escaped the skyscrapers of the cities and they were wandering on an ever-bending cobbled path that darted through the open country. It wasn’t really the country however just a bunch of open fields. Traversing through the open fields was easy, it was empty, short, wild grass with a bunch of colourful flowers blooming and the odd oak tree that towered towards the sky they were natures skyscrapers, there huge leafy branches camouflaged them from above, it hid them from the sun and was he perfect shade. Slowly, as their destination got slightly closer, the grass got taller, wilder, Heather started to appear and there was more life. Cows started to appear, the trio had never been this far into the country before. They were part of the wilderness. It had been hours now and it was midday, the warmth of the sun had faded now. The shade gifted from the trees wasn’t much like a gift anymore, it was just there. Entering the shade now made you flinch as it sent a shiver through out your body making you want to leave. It worked. Now, instead of tying their jackets round their waist leaving them to hang limply, they pulled them on. Ellie, zipping hers up, the others leaving them. Nobody talked much, it was hard to find conversation when leaving because a blood-sucking demon had stolen your parents and if that hadn’t happened to you, you had to leave your parents anyway to remain safe. Oliver remained the mot quite, he had never been the bravest, and what had happened took a toll on him. He was a lot more anxious than normal, scared that this monster called the Grim would jump behind him and steal him away even though the Grim had never attacked someone who wasn’t alone. Despite knowing, this if Oliver ever trailed behind he would quickly run to catch up or constantly check over his shoulder. The others told him not to worry but they themselves were anxious. Spirit wood, was still miles away and it was still continuing to get colder and later by the hour. Fortunately, despite being a cold day, it was late summer meaning it would stay light for longer than normal, so they could travel onwards for longer. It was four o’clock when it became noticeable but more trees were appearing, the cows were out of sight and the slight sound of twittering could be heard every time they walked under a tree. Robins were fluttering around them perching on branches, one was so low to the ground that if they wanted they could of reached out to touch it. Spirit Wood was close now, the could sense it. The trio could see the outskirts of the wood now. They could feel its magical touch. It was said that amongst the squirrels, dear and birds who lived amongst the trees, there were magical creatures too, such as miniature dragons, unicorns, centaurs and fairy’s ,who danced upon four leaf clovers, yet know one new if it was true, some people thought the stories were rumours, a hoax but Oliver, Ellie and Alex believed or at least they wanted it to be real.
