Autumn Haiku by Brooke

Raging fires burn

Fireworks explode above,

Flames flicker at night.

Squirrels search quickly,

leaves erupt in tornadoes,

autumn colours flame.

A dying season,

autumn brings a blazing end,

winter’s quilts in place.

Fire-wheels spinning,

I hold a star in my hand,

marshmallows burn fast!

Raging fires burn

Fireworks explode above,

Flames flicker at night.

The Bike by Brooke

The bike waits for its unknown owner to arrive.

The wheels were now owner by overgrown moss.

The ancient, rusty pedals sit still unable to move.

The duck-bill shaped seat peels away revealing many untold secrets of the past.

the headlights flicker like flames in a fireplace keeping a family warm.

The aged paint falls off daily, uncovering memories full of joy.

The gears no longer hold the power they used to have.

A cobweb forms between the saddle and the handle bars.

The bike waits for its owner to arrive.

The Skeleton Leaf by Brooke

The skeleton leaf slept among the dead plants of the forest floor.

A witches poison plant waiting for its next unfortunate victim.

It was ancient architecture, shattered and forgotten in time.

Snake skin cast by a viper on emerald-green grass.

Saturn’s skin in disguise as a honeycomb, trying to take over the world.

Smashed glass dying by the side of the road.

A cobwebbed corner in an empty room of a huge house.

A dream catcher catching disturbing horrors off children’s dreams.

Autumn cracking away, under peoples feet forever.

Flesh peeling away revealing the secrets of the earth.
