The Venom Spider

The venom crawler is an excellent form of insect that has only recently been discovered. Its powers have made it renowned amongst the scientific community. Would you even recognize one? Are there any unknown facts that we need to know about this creature?

It is like most insects but unusually strange. They have eyes on the back of their head and their tears, (Poison) looks like milk. Its hairy legs are like a coat of armor, protecting them self’s. Attacking its prey the venom crawler shoots venom. When scared their abdomen grows like a puffer fish. Protecting its important feelers the rubber coating helps keep them stable.

The venom crawler’s body is one solid colour, black. They are covered in fury hairs keeping them warm. They can squeeze under locked doors and even into boxes! This is concerning because when cornered or frightened, they will attack humans with a silent but deadly venom. Alarmingly their venom is so lethal that is can burn through metal! So be careful!

Chapter 3- Through the door

It was a huge, colourful mansion, surrounded by consummate flowers, bright butterfly’s and more. The door was open and without thinking, she stepped inside, her heart beating rapidly. The house had everything she needed: a comfy bed; a fire place to provide warmth and a table filled with, cakes, cookies and all sweet treats.

“Hello,” called Ellie, wondering if anyone else was there.

But she was met by silence. She made her way through the hallway to the room on her right. There was no one in the room, the Tv was on and there was a hot plate of food on the table.

For a moment she wondered, who or what had put it there?

She had thrown into her drawing a wish and it didn’t seem as it was going to come true. There were no signs that the boy lived their. She hadn’t seen her brother since she was five. And she has sure he wasn’t there. That was until she heard it

Turning around, she barged the bedroom door open. It was then she saw it: A dark silhouettes followed behind her; emerald eyes peered out of a large head and razor sharp claws ripping the wallpaper off. There was no hesitation this time. Ellie shoved the mansion door open and ran like never before, she dashed backup the pathway, through the forest and towards were the door had been.

But there was no door, nothing there, nothing at all, were the door had been huge tall dark oak trees surrounded her. “Come back,” groaned a voice behind her.

Chapter two – A warning disobeyed

“My name is Mr Parker” he muttered, glaring at Ellie until she broke eye contact, looking around the emporium uncomfortably. “This is my shop, do you like it?” Ellie was confused so she whispered yes. “Here is the book of marvels, you are free to look around my shop but do not touch the book!”

A minute later, Mr Parker had vanished with a swirl of his long, brown blazer, behind a curtain, and Ellie was alone. She realized since Mr Parker introduced himself she hadn’t blinked once. Ellie had supposed to continue looking round the shop, but there was something about the shop the seemed to pull her like a magnet. She longed to peek at the forbidden pages. She checked around the room to see were Mr Parker was, she could just see down a long, empty corridor which had appeared to be at least a hundred doors. Where do they all lead, she wondered?

Turning back, she opened the book. Each page contained several ideas, forming a wonderful world. There were drawings and notes about, country’s, villages, ocean boats, mountains and more. In each place there were wonders beyond imagining. The next thing Ellie knew, there was a pen in her hand and she was drawing a mansion filled with her fa things, cakes, art, pens and more, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterfly’s. “This way.” The snake hissed. Ellie closed the book and without thinking followed. The snake slithered down the corridor until it came to one door that had been freshly painted. It put his tail to one side and slid under the door. Ellie knew exactly what she was supposed to do. She opened the door with a creak and stepped inside.

What she saw was amazing a mansion, filled with her favourite things. She paused and watched the butterfly’s flying around the room. The weirdest thing was it was an exact replica of her drawing. Without thinking Ellie ran towards the mansion, not looking back as the door slowly closed behind her.

Prologue

There are some places where no one ever goes. The secret Emporium was like that. 

Even though, bright red sale signs, promising a bargain, filled the shop window. Even though, designer fashion hung on silk black hangers. Even though, chocolate baked brownies dripping icing. Even though, baskets of fidgets begging to be played with. No one that is until Ellie entered.

Chapter 1- Through the door

Ellie had always been intrigued and her mother had often warned her that it would lead her into mishap. One cloudy morning, she was walking down Liverpool road, when she noticed something strange about the Emporium. Unexpectedly, the door was open and without thinking about it, she stepped inside.

Everywhere she looked, it was packed with wonders and things she wanted to touch. She saw a plastic case filled with colourful spoons. On one counter, a bowl of read glass eyes sat swivelling and staring into space. There was a display of vintage teddy bears that seemed to follow her every move. A cabinet full of pottery bowls, covered with dust. A miniature water feature made soothing sounds. A clear glass container filled with shooting stars shone bright, casting the roof with rainbows.

But what interested her the most was an old leather- bound book. As she turned the pages, the black inky wording created an image of excitement.

“I see you’ve found my book of marvels, ”a deep voice said. Ellie gasped, closed the book and looked up at the owner. He was a tall large middle aged man. Around his neck an emerald green snake hissed. Sticking its tongue out in disapproval

Take the feeling of new pyjamas as the sun goes down.
Peel the excitement of going in the cinema when it’s light outside and come out and it’s dark.
Stir the petals of a blossom tree, knowing it’s spring.
Serve this with pebbles gleaming in the stream, and sprinkle with a cold glass of water on a hot day.

In the room of rainbows,
colour was splatted on the walls

In the room of books,
pages flew

In the room of rulers,
everything was symmetrical

In the room of flowers,
bees stung me

In the room of pencils,
the floor was covered in words

In the room of baths,
bubbles overflowed
