The Legend Of Podkin One-Ear

Chapter One

The Subtle Knife

As the battle commenced the three rabbits’ mother, Laz, dragged them all the way to the dusty bedroom. Rook sat cutely on the floor as Raskin and Rasco looked around.

“Why did you drag us here mother? Father is going to die to Gorm! And we can walk, you know.” Shouted Raskin. Rook sat unknowingly. Mother Laz didn’t reply as she seemed to be looking for something. After a few minutes of Laz searching the room, she gave Raskin a wrapped up cloth and gave Rasco a map and a sack. None of them opened anything, they were too sad to. They knew that mother was going to send them away. Apart from Rook of course, he’s just a young kitten. Laz pulled a book from the bookshelf and the wall opened. It was a tunnel. They didn’t want to leave but they knew they had to. They said their goodbyes and entered the tunnel.

They could hear faint footsteps coming up the stairs very slowly. As Raksin argued about staying or not while Rook relentlessly cried wanting his father. Only Rasco was willing to go into the tunnel. Gorm was on the same floor as them. Laz pushed them further in the tunnel as fast as she could, shut the door and locked it.

The rabbits were equipped and ready for the journey, at least Rasco was. Rasco gave the sack to Raskin so she could carry Rook. After minutes of them not being able to start the journey, Raskin took the lead. They started the journey through the labyrinth of tunnels. He had no idea where he was leading them but he was sure it was the right way to go. They kept going and going and going. Still going. The tunnel was long and Raskin was being a bad leader so Rasco took over as she had the map. Raskin slowed down to have a peak of what was wrapped in the cloth. A knife.

“Rasco, look!” Shouted Raskin. Rasco came over and saw a knife in her brother’s hands. She also saw a note. It read:

My dearest children, if you are reading this that means that Gorm has taken over the warren. I will tell you about the knife. The knife was a gift from the Goddess, it will cut through anything but iron. Use it wisely and don’t die.

They stared at the knife for a moment. Then looked up and saw the end of the tunnel but it was night time so they decided to rest as they knew it was safest. They ate some food and suddenly got tired. As they drifted off to sleep they could hear sudden footsteps…

Chapter Two

Raven Wood

Raskin, Rasco and Rook woke up, it was a cold windy morning. They got up, collected their things and walked to the mouth of the tunnel. They walked outside slowly and heard a slight rumble… “THE GORM!” Screamed Rasco. The Gorm was coming, it had found the tunnel. It stood before the mouth. Unexpectedly, rocks began falling. Collapsing the mouth of the tunnel, blocking the Gorms way. They looked surprised. Raskin grabbed the knife and walked to a tree. The knife **** through like butter. The tree fell onto the tunnel blocking it even more. Rasco looked around in thought.

She took out the map. Their plan was to get to Ravenwood Warren, they had to go through Grimheart Grove and climb Cranberry Cliffs then they’re there. They started the cold journey.

“That’s a weird looking crow?”Questioned Raskin. Then, Rasco figured it out. It was one of the Gorm’s!

They ran, Raskin armed with the knife in hand and sack on back and Rasco with Rook in a pouch in the map. Finally, they entered Grimheart Grove. The crow could no longer see them, there was a roof of trees.

Rook tucked himself further in the pouch, with only his ears poking out, it was so dark. Outside, Raskin looked fearless but inside he was really terrified. Then, Rasco heard something. It was just a tree luckily, or was it just Rook shivering and screaming for food? At this pont she had no idea. Raskin could see the light.

It was Cranberry Cliffs! They were so close. They just needed to climb the mountain… They regretted everything, only two steps up. They kept going, forcing themselves to keep moving. Two steps from the door. Finally.

They knocked loudly. It was Lady Black, the chieftains wife! She let them in. She gave them food without a word. It was like she was expecting them. Something was wrong. Rook heard a crow and went “Caw, caw.” Raskin and Rasco found something out. Ravenwood was working with the Gorm! The crow left. They were surprised it wasn’t a Raven. They needed to escape.

Chapter Three

One-Ear

As the three finished their meal, Rasco spotted something. A Gorm helmet? She nudged Raskin hoping he would notice the trouble they’d gotten into. Nudge by nudge he finally noticed. Raskin started to pack up unnoticed. The guards came closer with a net in hand.

The two older rabbits looked around for an exit so they were ready to run. Rook was looking around too but not necessarily for an exit but just for food, the poor rabbit was so cold and hungry. Raskin and Rasco found a route. Rasco picked up Rook and the map, and Raskin got everything else.

They ran. Crashing into walls, running through crowds.

“SHUT THE GATES! ALL OF THEM!” Screamed guards from all around. Suddenly, Lady Black noticed. She got the Gorm soldier to stop them.

“Run, they’re catching up to us!” Shouted Raskin cautiously. Minutes later, the furry rabbits found the way, but the gate was closing.

Quickly, Rasco chucked Rook through and then made the jump herself. Then, Raskin jumped as quickly as possible, just making it through at the last minute. Apart from his ear. It was glued to the ground under the portcullis.

Without thinking, Rasco grabbed the knife and chopped off Raskins ear and patched it up with spider webs. They’re great use for situations like this!

Raskin was still conscious, luckily, but very weak. Rasco dragged him to the piek of Cranberry Cliffs. Then, Rasco heard a growl, she turned around. The Gorm leader- “Ironlake!”…

Chapter Four

A Remembered Soul

The three were blacked out. They blinked and blinked again. “Where are we?” Raskin Questioned being second to awake. He saw mud everywhere – but it was red… What could this mean? A few minutes later Rook woke up and squealed. The rabbits didn’t know where they were but they knew it had something to do with the Gorm.

Loud footsteps came closer to the cell. It was Ironlake. Ferociously, he opened the cell door and snatched Raskin by the ear. He closed the cell, making sure to lock it and put the keys on his belt. Without fail, Rasco grabbed the keys silently and successfully. It was their queue to escape but there was exactly 672 keys! Rasco knew this because there was a note saying ‘672 keys’, or did it say ‘Gorm keys’? It wasn’t very legible. Either way she knew there were a lot of them.

There was a weird noise from behind them but the older rabbit ignored it. Rasco chose a key and tried it. Then she knew it would take forever and they’d probably be dead by then. Unfortunately the bars were made of iron so she couldn’t cut it open… DING! An idea. She’d use a hair clip to pick the lock. It opened after 10 minutes, but then something dug a tunnel to the cell. A mole? Rasco and Rook hopped in. Fortunately there was a tunnel to the room Raskin was in! No one was there so they grabbed him and jumped down again. They ran to an exit as fast as possible.

It was the outside world! They ran and thanked the mole. Footsteps filled the silent noise. Ironlake was coming but Rasco didn’t notice. The Gorm leader was falling with a sword in hand aiming for Rasco.

“Rasco, NO!” Raisin pushed her out of the way and he was the victim now. He died. White snow turned red and Rook cried with Rasco…

How to look after a baby unicorn

Have you just been given a baby unicorn to look after? Well fear not! These instructions will make you top tear unicorn trainer. Soon your baby unicorn will be a fully fledged, winged unicorn.

What you need

You will need a toy, some source of water, food, leaves, flowers(preferably edible), a fluffy blanket a bed and finally sprinkles and sparkles.

What to do

First, build a comfortable den so that your unicorn sleeps well at night. It will need an area to run around and an area that is shaded so it doesn’t over heat.

Next, provide a duvet to sleep on with pillows to go in it’s den. It will also need leaves and flowers (preferably edible).

Then, provide food and water that they can get themselves as they are always desperate for food, but not vegetables. Unicorns hate them.

Also, make sure you give them a soft toy and make sure you play with them daily. The toy will be much appreciated.

After that, exercise  your baby unicorn daily by going on walks or hikes. By doing this it will grow it’s strength and soon be able to fly.

Finally, unicorns love to sing so if you sing it will teach them and they will sing a relaxing melody.

Be prepared for when your unicorn grows up (not into a teenager luckily). Your unicorn will have to make a big decision. It will either decide to stay with you, leave for a little bit or leave forever. It’s decision depends on how well you took care of it. Will your unicorn decide to stay?

Pandamander-Chapter 4 Peace

As Sour runs to the egg, she stops -she must have changed her mind- I was just about to run back but she says “We’re not going to hurt you, or your egg.” In a calm voice, trying not to show her fear.

The Pandamander steps back. “We won’t harm you, we want to protect you.” She holds her arms out, showing no threat. The Pandamander bows its head. I think- I think it’s working, it’s actually working. The Pandamander stares into our eyes, it’s calmed down now.

“We’ll leave now.” Says Sour. The Pandamander comes up with us to where the rocks had fallen, it pushes them away so we can get out. We see it heading back to its nest. I know it’s not a bad creature, it just feels threatened.

Outside, me and Sour are relieved. Inside, we hear that the Pandamander is snuggling with its child and egg.

As we walk back to Seagol’s Diner, we talk about how we could help the Pandamander and make sure no one finds the cave by accident. Sour is urgent for an idea of how to protect it. Ping!  Say there had been a rockfall and then report it, stop people going there to the overhang of the cliffs.

As the sun rises I see people opening their stores, seeing Beret setting out new hats in his hat store, Delight changing the sign from closed to open in her ice-cream parlour. I see people setting up their deckchairs, it might be a lovely day for once! They wave as we wave back. By the time we get to Seagol’s Diner, traffic has begun around the town.

I push the key through the back door and shove it open. As I head to the kitchen, leaving Sour behind in my room, my mind questions a lot. Will the Pandamander be safe? What if someone goes into the cave? When will the egg hatch?

Suddenly, Sour walks out of my room, seeing a place on the wall with seaglass, with the same black stripe on each one. Me and Sour think alike.

After bringing a snack from the kitchen, Sour has her head stuck in ancient looking books. She finds one that was written in 1505, about a captain and his prey. A captain once caught a black striped egg. He kept it with them, but that night he was under attack by the devil’s panda. The captain knew it was after the egg so he just managed to throw it into the sea. Ever since then, fishermen and captains had a rule, any species of mander they spot, they hunt and hope they never see one again.

That evening, we talk. Our adventure has only just begun.

The Baticorn

The Baticorn is a rare creature who keeps hidden in case people want to hunt it for it’s powerful horn. It has recently been spotted in a glimpse in 2012 and people want to know more and more about it. It was first discovered in a cave in 1823 when people were mining and has been forgotten since. The Baticorn is a rare unicorn that has only been spotted twice.

The Baticorn lives in the deepest depths of the dark gloomy caves that have crystal orbs to protect themselves. They stay near lava to keep their home warm and it also lights up the cave it lives in. If the lava isn’t that close it will light the place up with its horn and the slight light of the crystals. They live in rare caves to stop people from accidentally coming across them. They only come out of their home at night.

The Baticorn has a golden, star-like horn on its head and has enormous black to brown wings to fly around the night sky. It has deep, lifeless eyes and a silky brown mane coming down its back. It has black hooves that go as fast as lightning when running to get ready to go into flight. It has soft beige fur with fluffy white ears.

This shy and wonderful winged horse eats many of the gem crystals such as amethyst and ruby’s and a lot more. They also eat crystal orbs which heal them if they are hurt, as well as leaves in the spring, ashes in the summer, pumpkins in the autumn and snowflakes in the winter. Their favourite food is pumpkin pie.

The Baticorn is quite a shy creature and will back away if there’s humans nearby. But if humans try to attack the mythical creature then it will defend itself. It will attack other species of unicorns or humans if they get near its children. They will fly away if a human gets too close to them if they have not gained the humans trust. The Baticorn gets power from gem crystals in caves to attack or defend themselves and their children.

If you see this wondrous creature then don’t tell anyone about it to keep it protected otherwise people will hunt it for its power and the police might think it’s a dangerous creature. They like people flying on its back and being hand fed pumpkin pie, or normal pumpkins. People believe that it’s horn grants wishes so people hunt it for its horn. It will soon become endangered.

Dark Unicorn Spotted

Yesterday sunset, a child named Peyton Paget, whose 9 years old, saw a unicorn foraging for food in Walton Way, a road in Brandon Suffolk.

Peyton, who lives in Walton Way, was about to go out to Tesco’s with her mum to buy ingredients to make pumpkin pie but as she walked out of the front door of her house she spotted a shadow of something that looked like a unicorn. It was eating peoples pumpkins! She told the informer that she heard a rustle from the bushes and shortly after saw a unicorn with a black horn!

When the informer interviewed Peyton this morning she told us she was amazed but a little scared as it was fully black. She added that, “Unicorns are amazing but very rare, we have to keep their species safe!”

What is big?

What is big

What is big:The heights of Olympus Mons and the Earth’s fascinating perimeter.

What is small: Tiny groups of red to brown mushrooms and the small acorns on the ground ready to grow into trees.

What is hot: A volcano’s throat boiling with lava inside and the Earth’s core.

What is cold: The tips of Mount Everest and a friend leaving your side.

What is happy: An adorable kitten playing with you and friends making yourself smile.

What is sad: Yourself alone with no one there for you and you being the hated one.
