The Cover My Face Poem

The Cover My Face Poem

As I put on the midnight mask

I saw the bats soaring through the silent sky,

Charcoal being thrown into a gas-fueled furnace

And saw seven blackbirds perching on the tower of London

What was the secret behind this mask?

———————————————–

As I put on the sunlight mask

I felt the the heat of the sun taking all my thoughts away,

The beach sand lapping through my toes

And a the scent of a candle being lit in front of my nose

What was the secret behind this mask?

————————————————————————————-

As I put on the mask of secrets,

All the other masks started to fade,

Instantly just like a scamming trade

Was this the end maybe,or was this the secret behind the mask?

The Elemental Masks

The Elemental Masks

I put on the mask of blazing flames and saw,

Toasted marshmallows waiting to be consumed,

The fierce fire crackling at midnight,

And the idling embers fluttering to the ground.

I put on the mask of tree green and saw,

A mint green lizard emerging from a shadow beneath my feet,

The sharp blades of grass freshly cut,

And the emerald bulbs in a field slowly flowering for Spring.

I put on the mask of blue and saw,

A patient sky waiting for the evening to come,

The calm waves of the deep blue sea,

And the beautiful baby blue king fisher catching its dinner.

I put on the mask of air and felt,

The small blow to flicker a candle,

The gentle breeze of the night sky,

And the force of a helicopter coming into land.

The coloured masks

I put on the yellow mask and saw,

the ferocious lightning streaking the ground,

the lonely butter cups in the field waiting to be picked

and the yellow beams of the sun .

I put on the blue mask and saw,

a king fisher swooping down to the crystal water ,

the peeled back skin of the great blue ocean

and the blue appearance  of the sky.

I put on the red mask and saw,

the dying embers of a fire,

the red velvet carpet

and the ruby red Denmark flag swaying in the wind.

I put on the grey mask and saw,

volcanic ashes storming over me,

grey clouds towering above me

and the perfectly cooked meat from my roast waiting

Diary Entry 14/2/22 by finlay

Diary entry 14/2/22

Yesterday evening, the best thing happened to me. I was taking my dogs Reggie and Lola for a walk in the park. The children were packing their things ready to go home and a few birds were flying overhead.  It was so cold me and my dogs had our coats on I also had my coat. Reggie and Lola also their little boots on!

They wanted to explore the fields and spent a lot of time digging in the corner. While they were playing on the grass I threw the ball so the could fetch it and bring it back to me.

By now, it was getting dark and the sun was flying away from me. The wind had picked up and I sat on the bench waiting for my dogs to finish playing. I caught the scent of something, something foul it smelt like rotten vegetables coming from the other side of the park.

I sat still and called Reggie and Lola to me. They ignored as usual. Then it happened. A shadow emerged from where the stench was. It had beady red eyes glaring at me.

I could just make out 4 arms and 2 legs and 3 sharp spikes on its back. Whatever it was came out of the shadows and paused. A few scales sparkled in the distance. I stood up and it opened its mouth with sharp spikes inside.

Reggie and Lola rushes to my side and barked over and over. Moments later the weird creature stepped back into the shadows. I ran home with the dogs not daring to look back. Had I just seen a Jalamander? Where the old legends really true?

Plants

Plants

You are  a flower blowing in the wind.

You are a seed, awaiting to grow up to be like its ancestors.

You are a dandelion seed, drifting through the air.

You are like a sunflower standing elegant and still.

Following the sun like a loyal dog.

You are as wise as a tree.

You are as silent as a sunflower, moving to see the sun.

The weird week by Finlay

                                                     The Weird week

On Monday, I found a dirty dog squealing and begging for food.

On Tuesday, I walked to the local park and saw children playing and having fun.

On Wednesday, I saw rusty iron gates in front of the abandoned house that has not been inhabited for years.

On Thursday, I touched the bell in the Tewkesbury Abby just before it was rung.

On Friday I tasted the brand new Mcplant burger and it was the best burger I ever had.

On Saturday, I heard sirens as the police were chasing the thief of the stolen Lamborghini.

On Sunday, I dreamed of my dream meal (McDonald’s, KFC and chicken nuggets) all in my tummy.
