Chapter 2: Scramashank’s Castle contd
“This is all my fault!” Hopkin hit himself, “Hey! Don’t be so hard on yourself it’s not your fault at all.” Hopkin glanced up, then down then to the sides, he spotted a crack in the walls! “psst, Peskin, look.” She looked at the crack and looked through it. “it’s a tunnel! Hopkin we can escape!” “I know, come on let’s go.” They woke Mo up again and crept into the tunnels it was rank in there, eventually they came to an opening and smelt the clean fresh air, “ahhh.” Hopkin sighed h was free again, but not for long. The Gorm weren’t stupid they knew that sooner or later that they would find a way to escape. “They’re gone sir, should we go and look for them?” A Gorm soldier asked “You know what to do and if they do escape, again, I’ll have to grab your head, for my collection.” He smiled broadly and left to his room. Meanwhile Hopkin and his brother and sister where going somewhere they thought would be safe. “Well.” Peskin asked breathlessly, they were all tired from running away from Scramashank’s Castle. “Where to next?” She added once she had gotten her breath back.
“The misty mountains.” He replied, Peskin nodded and they continued walking in silence. Soon after Hopkin got his journal out and started to write in Rabbitese, so I will translate it for you.
6:30 AM
We were both tired from the walking, ad running away from that place. I do have a plan, but I’m not sure if it will work. Peskin said she was starting to get hungry, so I told her we would eat at 8:00 AM.
7:00 AM
I think Mo is thirsty and hungry as she was making moaning sounds, which she does when she’s hungry. I know she’s thirsty because her mouth is dry and her voice is raspy.
8:00 AM
I’m starting to get hungry myself now I think we should stop and have a snack. I’ll make an update in case something exciting happens.
Hopkin put his journal back in his bag and returned to Peskin, “Still hungry?” he asked politely
“Ravenous.” Peskin replied. They got out some food and ate and soon they were back up and walking, full up too. At noon they got to the misty mountains and set up a little camp at the back of a cave. They decided to get some rest for the journey that lay ahead. Just before he went to bed, Hopkin pulled out his journal and wrote some things down.
12:00 AM
Were all sleepy so we’re going to bed, hopefully we survive the journey to the hidden burrows.
He didn’t write much because he was sleepy and so they all went to sleep. Hopkin woke up first and could hear digging sounds, what that? He asked himself. It was getting closer now and soon he could hear it vividly. He presses his ear up against a wall, but the noise stopped instead behind him was Goztel, a leader of the Gorm, his metallic mask looked as if it was stuck to his face, Hopkin wouldn’t be surprised if it was. His body was encased in metal armour and he had a sword that was also made of metal which was rusted and bloody from all the souls he had slayed. “You’re coming with me.” He said in a deep voice, he grabbed Hopkin by the leg and put him over his shoulder, he then looked at Mo and Peskin, deciding to leave them in their sleep.
“Let me go!” Hopkin screeched in his ear, but it didn’t have an effect on him. He took them to a Gorm hideout which was near Foddlebum Castle. “Stay here!” he said. They did as they were told because they knew he would kill them if they tried to escape. He came back later with a flagon of water and some carrots, “eat.” He commanded. They did as they were told, they were hungry anyway. Then a shout was heard behind them. “Well, well, well.” Goztel said. “Look who it is” “let them go.” A voice said. “I’ll never let the last rabbits of Shallowood Warren go. They are like,” he thought for a moment, “A jewel,”
He added on, “if, you want them so much why don’t you come and ge” an arrow pierced Goztel’s armour and went through his heart he dropped dead to the floor. Just like that he died. “I’m sorry you had to witness that.” A voice said. It was King Hassabassel.
Chapter Three:
King Hassabassel
King Hassabassel was the king of Roland. He was well known throughout the kingdoms and was king of Roland and Foodle-bum, they were like two kingdoms joined in one. “so, kiddies, how’d you end up here?” he asked, Hopkin proceeded to tell him their story. “ah, the Gorm you say? Well I have killed a few in my time. You know I was friends with Lopkin.” “Podkin One Ear’s, Father?” Hopkin replied with, “Yes, Podkin’s Father, Lopkin, he was a great chap.” Tears formed in his eyes, “But, the Gorm got him,” “Did you know Podkin?” He asked , “Podkin? Oh yes, yes he saved me once, from the Gorm.” More tears formed, so Hopkin decided to stop asking questions that he thought would make him cry, “Well, better get going then shall we?” Hassabassel broke the silence, “Where are we going?” Hopkin asked, “My castle of course!” he said, “Where else to go?” was that a rhetorical question or was he asking me where else could we go? He asked himself, he chose that is was one and just followed Hassabassel to his castle.
Sometime later, they got there. Hassabassel’s Castle was even bigger than Scramashank’s one. Its outer layer was laid with creamy coloured bricks and a golden and red banner hung from the front of the castle. The draw bridge was made from murk wood, a type of wood that couldn’t burn, even if you poured lava all over it. The drawbridge was held up by metal chains, which reminded Hopkin of the Gorm armour and swords. He told himself he would be safe here, away from the Gorm, away from anything that could harm him, Peskin or Mo. Inside the castle it was even greater, a golden chandelier hung from the ceiling and crystals were used as lights inside the dark hallways of the castle. It was grand, no better than grand, exceptional, that’s what it was.
“This is my castle.” Hassabassel said, “Wow,” Hopkin said in awe, “How long did this take you to make?” Hopkin asked, still in awe at the greatness. He woke up from his dream land to Hassabassel speaking, “That’s about how long it took. Hopkin?” he could see that Hopkin had sensed something, “Is something wrong?” and indeed there was Hopkin had realised that Mo and Peskin were missing! “Hassabassel.” He said, “Please, call me Randy.” He said back, “Where’s Peskin and Mo?” he asked, “Who’s Mo and Peskin?” he asked back, “Oh no.” he muttered to himself, a soldier came up to them “Sir, the Gorm are coming, should we attack?” he asked, “Yes and Hopkin take this, its called Starclout, protect it with your life, find Peskin and Mo and go the forgotten burrows okay?” he commanded, “How do you know where I’m going?” he asked, “Doesn’t matter, please just go. The sword is magical and it will aid you in your last bit of your journey.” Hassabassel said, “Okay.” Hopkin left the grand castle, only to see the Gorm in the distance, he turned and ran for the misty mountains. Meanwhile Mo and Peskin had their own problem. Mountain Trolls had found them when they’d been sleeping! Goztel had placed a flare just outside if the cave mouth and it had attracted Mountain Trolls, and they were hungry! Hopkin could see the smoke and he knew that they would’ve been taken by now, he glanced at Starclout and hoped he could do something with the sword.
