On the horizon Cogheart saw the crew treading through the long grass, carrying heavy loads on their backs, as the sun set behind them. She was sitting on a velvet cushion watching the orange, red and violet sky as the dragon peacefully slept on her lap. In twenty minutes, the captain was speaking to her when she noticed the dragon
“What happened to her?” She asked.
“I don’t know, maybe got attacked by an older dragon.” Cogheart explained.
The next day was full of work. Patching up the balloon, redoing the cabins and reinforcing the hull was a few of the long list of jobs, that would last a few days. During that time the crew had named the dragon, Lavender. She was healing fast and had revealed some of her hidden personality’s. She was very playful and loved to tug on the riggings. Lavender always fell down the stairs and made the crew laugh; keeping their hopes up.
Finally, the Highflier was fixed; and ready to fly. After the takeoff Cogheart was left staring of into the distance. Clouds tinted pink were drifting around the sky. Orange dominated the higher sky, while violet was fading into the low sun.
“Everything is okay.” She murmured into Lavender’s ear who nudged her head into Cogheart’s shirt in agreement. Lavender jumped out of her arms and onto the cushion;drifting to sleep.
