Paul the Parrot by Jane D

Diary entry: Thursday 4th April 1887

The island of wonder is not far from the coast of Peru. It has been around for centuries, but was only discovered twenty years ago. Nobody dares to set sail, even the name is spooky. Nobody that is until Martin and Craig Ochfee. Martin and Craig were explorers and they always wanted an adventure that would make them true heroes. It took the brave explorers two whole years to get there. When they finally got there in 1867 they felt like building a raft that was safe to go across the Pacific ocean and leaving their family was not worth it. Martin and Craig were gobsmacked. Completely and utterly gobsmacked. All they could see was a lot of string, loads of sticks, three palm trees and a parrot which they had named Paul. Paul the parrot had aqua blue eyes that shimmered in the sun, a curved beak so shiny you can see your reflection, razor sharp claws that can scratch their way through metal, a pillow of soft, colourful feathers, sunny yellow feathers ombreing in to sky blue and a colour changing tail depending on his emotion.

Twas the night before the two lionhearted brothers were going to set sail (although they had only been a week), but a storm was coming. The fearless pair knew they were going to make history and they certainly didn’t want to be known for being scaredy-cats panicking because of a storm. So they tried to look brave and thought to their limits. Martin had an idea. They were going to gather all of the sticks and put them into a wigwam shape. They would tie the top together using the string they had found. They would use palm leaves for the floor and balanced the wigwam on top of two palm trees (just in case the water covered the island at night).

It was early morning at The Island of Wonder and mighty Martin and courageous Craig were about to set sail for home when they realised that they had both forgotten the directions to Peru. “ What are we going to do?” asked Craig. “ I know,” said Martin with a grin on his face “ We could ask Paul if he knows how to get to Peru!” .“Pft, talk to a parrot?” spluttered Craig.

“ Squawk, squawk, what is wrong with that? “ questioned Paul. “ Did that parrot just talk?” said Craig. “ Indeed he did,” replied Martin. “Squawk, squawk I can show you the way to Peru!” Paul said proudly. “ I mean thanks I guess, it will still take two years. Right?”. “Squawk, squawk, sounds like you took the long way, you must have looped around the whole of South America because the short way is only about four hours.” YES! Thank you Paul, do you mind if we go now?”. “Whenever you’re ready,” said Paul.

The Bin – destroyer by Jane D

The Bin – destroyer is a brilliant looking insect that has been around for millions of years. Would you like to help us catch this insect and investigate it?

It is very different from most insects. The Bin – destroyer is an obsidian black with wide wings which can flap upto 127 flaps a minute. This extraordinary insect has glowing red eyes that shoot litter and interestingly has no legs.

The Bin – destroyer wriggles rapidly as it walks and has a curved tail that holds it’s sting. The sting is pure poison and one drop of water.

Chased by a Ghost by Jane D

Felicity was petrified, but still had the courage to try and outrun the sugar ghost. She was searching as much as she could, but the portal was nowhere to be seen. Her heart was beating as fast as a cheetah and she really wanted to stop to get her breath back.Luckily, she was all dressed in grey, and like a ninja, she blended into most of the dull, grey walls. As soon as Felicity stopped the sugar ghost stopped and gave her an angry look. Gradually Felicity started running again. She really wanted to depart this crazy world so she thought to herself, what took me here? Then she remembered it was the toilet. She sprinted off to the toilet and got zapped through the toilet into the normal world and in the emporium. She saw the shopkeeper and he looked absolutely furious. The shopkeeper bellowed “You have been in my shop for two days and haven’t bought anything, explain!” “ Wait you don’t understand, so basically I went to the toilet and then -” before she could finish she realised she was outside. Without noticing a flying teacup was following her.

Inside The Teacup by Jane D

Felicity was climbing up the spiral stairs to enter the flowery teacup when a glowing red button marked delay caught her eye. She was hoping it would delay anything bad that might happen to her if she touched the tea. She didn’t know how much longer she would be walking for. Eventually, Felicity reached the top. She inspected everything for a moment. She saw the plain white inside of the teacup; the chocolate brown tea; and a large sugar cube glistening in the sun which jumped up and landed with a PLOP!

Felicity took all of her clothes off until she was in a vest and pants. She took a deep breath and then did a careless belly flop into the tea. She was hoping that the delay button did it’s work, but it turned out it was a trick. Alarms went off and then the sugar cube turned into a sugar ghost. Felicity was too scared to scream. She was also miserable because her parents always told her to be good. She disobeyed them and that wasn’t good. “You have two options, live or die,” hissed the sugar ghost. “L-Live d-definitely live,” stuttered Felicity. “ Then you better get running girl.”. So Felicity did as she was told.

Felicity And The Sugar Cube by Jane Y4

A sugar cube fell out of the sky, but it wasn’t the type of sugar cube Felicity was looking for. This one was alive and it was a bad one.”Why do you wish for me?” asked the sugar cube angrily. ”Erm…er…erm I-I-I wanted t-to pet y-you” stuttered Felicity whilst backing away slowly.”You are to scared to pet me which is why I am going to pet you.” “ You pet me!” spluttered Felicity.

“Yes, you are free to look around, but do NOT touch the tea!” bellowed the evil sugar before vanishing into thin air. Felicity observed the chocolate brown tea for a minute, it was irresistible. She thought to herself, surely the tea is not that bad ( especially as a sugar cube and a sachet of milk had just fallen out of the sky.). So Felicity put on her swimming costume, swimming hat and goggles and then did a careless belly flop into the tea and as soon as she touched the tea she turned into a walking talking cup of tea.

Instructions To Wonder by Jane y4

Take the strength of the Roman coliseum and the wool of a sheep.

Mix well and add a pile of blush pink feathers. Stir in the love of a girlfriend and boyfriend on holiday in Portugal.

Blend in a pelicans beakful of grape wine and the colorful steeple of a church.

Ghastly Ghosts by Jane y4

Through the door of doom,

ghastly ghosts and beastly bears are furiously fighting.

Through the door of wondrous wishes,

I wish Wolves could beat West Brom.

Through the door of incredible incidents,

seven monkeys grew to the size of space.

Through the door of happy hankering,

Cressida Cowell wrote another how to train your dragon book.

Through the door of lunatic love,

people are calling for marriage.

The moss dragon

I was going for a walk and I saw a tiny green figure move across a wall. I wondered what it was but then I realised it must be the moss dragon thing I noticed on the news in the morning.

Let me tell you a little bit more about what the moss dragon looked like. This miniature dragon had moss green scales and a long beak to help him pluck out moss inbetween the brick and cement. He had sticky, webbed feet to make sure he wouldn’t be blown away by the strong gails you find in Barrow island in Australia. The dragons are about the size of three ants.

No one knows where moss dragons hibernate. Some believe they do not hibernate whereas others think they fly south and hide in colossal, old oak trees and they eat acorns instead of moss. They also kill of any predators with a deafening noise which is not harmful to humans, it just sounds like a burp.

So if you want to find a moss dragon you will need a lot of patience and good hearing, you will also need to be good at climbing trees. The most important things you will need is very good eyesight and a plane ticket to Australia if you don’t already live there.
