In the afternoon the car accelerated past Ikea, drove round the corner at high speeds and came to a halt on the highway and the driver came out of the car.

Although it was snowing, I wore a shirt.
Since it was scary, I took my time.
Before it was silent, I played my trombone.
Whenever it was scary, I played my music very loudly.
In case there was a bad smell, I bought a gas mask.
Shivering Sands

“I can’t smell anything, the air is so dry that it feels like breathing in the fire,” said Jeremiah but the Captain danced with happiness because they’ve landed safely on the sandy ground.
Behind the Stargrazer the dunes were fluttering in hot mist. It looked like the desert was swallowing the horizon.
Jim’s eyes darted around. Yellowish sand was everywhere. It stuck to the tall towers, dried-out trees, Stargrazer, and his skin.
“This reminds me about the beach from our last holidays. The sand is slithering just above the desert surface,” – he said.
“I don’t feel like on holidays at all,’ answered Jeremiah. The wind moved around and swept sand in front of their eyes. ‘Look at those piles of bones and gleaming armor, there are thousands of them. Could this be a whole army defeated by the dragons we just saw?’ he wondered. Boys stood in amazement, seeking clues.
Suddenly a rumbling thunder came from behind the dead trees.
The storm cloud came fast and the trees crackled to the ground with startling noise. Boys and their Captain looked around frantically. Now the sand was stinging like a thousand huge mosquitos.
Shivering Sands

As Jim Buns looked out of the Stargrazer glass window, he saw five fiery-red dragons flying in a strange circle of smoke. The biggest of the dragons was so terrifying, that Jim could not believe his eyes. It was flying closer and closer to Stargrazer. “Look out” – said Chris, “we are going to hit it!”
Suddenly, the dragon stopped at the window and looked straight into Jim’s eyes. It blinked, hissed, puffed, and went back to his pack. “That was close,” – blurted out Jeremiah.
Jim peered through the glass window again. He noticed now that the dragons were flying towards the mysterious Dutchman planet and then back to Stargrazer.
“Maybe they want us to follow them?” suggested Jeremiah.
“I’m not so sure we should,” wondered Chris.
“We have to,” said Jim.” Otherwise we will never know what they wanted”.
The Stagrazer turned to the strange dragon formation and began to follow it. The dragons were now flying towards the planet faster and faster and just before they’d all reached it an enormous portal appeared and swallowed five dragons.
The Stargrazer stopped at the portal just as it was closing. The star mist covered its gate and it was gone.
“Now what?” shouted Jeremiah.
“I’m not sure,” said Chris, “I’ll go and ask the Captain if we could land and try to find the dragons.”
Finally, the Stargazer lowered itself and landed at Shivering Sands. Little did they know what lay ahead.
