Good and bad

Barry stared at the mouldy burger. Outside the broken window, a wind swept across the empty town. Cars purred by and on the promenade, old papers tumbled along, driven by the wind. The sea rolled up the cold beach, crashing against the jagged rocks that fringed the dreadful shoreline.

Barry stared at the giant burger. Outside the lovely window, a wind swept across the lively town. Cars purred by and on the promenade, zero papers tumbled along, driven by the wind. The sea rolled up the exciting  beach, crashing against the blunt rocks that fringed the happy shoreline.

Formal writing

Dear Sir,

I am writing to inform you about the upcoming events on the local calendar.  There are some excellent events planned.

First, there will be a procession through the town, consisting of a wide variety of contributions. Anyone involved must take great care not to get in the way of the crowds because there will be lots of pushing and shoving that will ruin the event. The mayor will judge the best baby competition. While that is going on, you could find a restaurant or takeaway if you are hungry.

After that, there will be a dance display in the town square. Stand back so you don’t get in the way when it is on. The market will be open all afternoon.

Finally, the firework display will be held in Prince’s Park at exactly six. We hope you all have an incredible time.

Yours faithfully,

Billy Bob Kramer.

polly

Long, long ago there was a poor girl called Polly who lived next to the beach.

She had a strange little cottage with a rusty bike but she was happy.

Early one morning, Polly went for a walk to collect shells.

She collected flat shells, curved shells and thin shells.

Suddenly, Polly found the most beautiful shell she had ever seen lying next to a rock pool!

Slowly, Polly bent down to pick up the shell, which was glistening in the sun.

To her amazement, the shell spoke.

“I will grant you two wishes so choose wisely!” said the magnificent shell.

Inside, Mum was cooking food. Outside all the children were happily playing in the snow.

Outside, the cold rain pattered against the windows. Inside, it was nice and warm.

Outside, the boys played football. Inside, Mum was tidying up.

Outside, the fluffy snow was building up high. Inside, the lovely family were eating.

Outside, the cold rain was flooding the streets. Inside the house, everybody was tucked up nicely in bed.

As soon as happy faced Mrs Softy ran into class 13, the familiar room immediately appeared to turn happy. He was fat with a pleasant stare rather like an excited puppy. “Stand up children!”, barked the old teacher, I am used to being disobeyed.”

The black ox beetle

The black ox beetle

The black ox beetle scuttles around the ground in any country on its twelve legs looking for bug snacks. It has only just been discovered because it like to stay in crevices. How do you identify them? Read on to find out.

The black ox beetle likes to eat small things such as aphids and weevils and big things like ladybirds. It kills them with their sharp horns by charging at them from afar. The male beetles have potent poison on their horns, but the females don’t. They have fur on their bellies for the harsh winter nights and shed it in spring. They have a jet-black shell to protect them from other dangerous bugs. Thankfully, the beetles don’t have any interest in humans, so they won’t attack you if you want to do some research on by yourself. Amazingly, they lay eggs underground so no predators can get them. When they hatch they dig out of the ground and immediately try to find food and eventually reproduce starting the cycle again. Hopefully, this brought you some useful information about black ox beetles.

The Everywhere Emporium

Chapter 4

When he woke up, he found he was back inside the room that he drew. He saw chains wrapped around him, someone or something was going to eat him. He heard footsteps coming towards him. “Please don’t eat me!” Screamed Chad.

The creature only grunted and walked straight past him. With a sigh of relief, he looked around to see if he could break out and after lots of struggling, he spotted a key on the floor, so he started to wiggle towards it. Once he got to it, he kicked the key up in the air using his super football skills and then caught it. Then he found the keyhole and let himself free. But that was not the only challenge because a tree had fallen over the exit door. He couldn’t lift it, so he looked for another door, but he lost hope after an hour of looking and eventually he came to a pond and sat down with his feet in the water. It was surprisingly warm; he expected it to be cold. After five minutes he saw a faint outline of a door in the water, he squinted at it and then he confirmed that it was a door, so he entered the pond then slowly swam to the door. He was not a very good swimmer, but he persevered forward. He barely had enough breath to reach the door but once he did, he swung it open end entered. Thankfully it was the crazy emporium and amazingly his clothes were completely dry.
