My secret is made from-

My Secret.

My secret is made from-

Scolding fire, Permafrost ice,

The blazing fireball that is the Sun,

All the elements, fire, earth and ice,

And the occasional, refreshing summer breeze.

I found it-

I found it standing on the eye of the last survivor,

Lying on the dusty, deserted road,

In the middle of a global catastrophe or disaster.

This secret can-

This secret can control the elements, fire, earth and ice,

Give peace to the Bermuda Triangle,

Control life and death,

Revive from the dead.

If I lost this secret-

Global disasters will thrive,

But we won’t survive…

Letter home.

Dear Mother,

Many thanks for the hot pie you gave me. It kept me nice and toasty on the train just like our fireplace. The train was right cold and the journey was bumpier than ever. The scenery was absolutely stunning but it was spoiled by the weather. When we arrived at Barlow Station, I immediately slipped on the station floor because of the ice in front of the ticketing desk. I was shielding my head because there were so many icicles on the station roof that any one could come crashing down piercing into my skull.

Anyways, I’m living with Ms. Parker and Mr. Parker in a small cottage with a huge farmhouse by the side of the river Trent. (Psst! They drink booze and store them in absolutely enormous barrels!) The farmhouse is huge, like bigger than anything. I even have my own section of the farmhouse that I can do anything with!

The cottage is absolutely wonderful, the walls of it are made from the smoothest of stones and next to it is a small wooden shed that Ms. Parker uses as a herb garden! There’s a large garden with lots and lots of apple trees and fruit trees. There’s also a bunch of poison ivy creeping up the shed which I’m not allowed to touch because it makes my skin itch really bad.Theres a stable for horses, a pig pen with plump pigs rolling around in the mud, lots of sheep in a pen and lots of cows. There’s fresh milk and yoghurt everyday. Mr. Parker and Ms. Parker keep a secret stash of 4 wooden barrels of booze and 4 wooden barrels of giggle juice filled to the brim. Homemade produce is available all day, everyday. Next, I got my own tiny shed which is very small, which I can barely stand up in but I’ll make the most out of it.

The weather there is great and the owners are very kind and caring and what  surprises me is that I actually get properly cared for! I get to eat homemade cakes and pies and there’s a somewhat decent bathroom (Actually clean!). The house itself is also very clean.

If I haven’t already told you, I’m currently living in Thorpe Salvin. It’s a small village with only 20-40 houses or so. It’s sort of like Rome as there are streets that weave in and out of each other and there are lots of bakeries.

I go to Thorpe Salvin Institute of Civil Chemical Engineering. The school is very fun and it’s very close. We usually eat in the labs where all of the tools and machines are. The machines are just to observe DNA structures.

I hope that Dad will beat Mr. Adolf ******. All my hope, love and wishes, I hope we’ll meet again,

Your son, Mark.

When the secret isn’t a secret anymore, contd.

The creature blankly stared up at Robert, its eyes like lasers, warming up Roberts’s body. A flash of fire and embers surrounded it, sending a chill down Robert’s spine. The ground shook with each step the creature took, and when Robert blinked, it moved around four feet closer to him. The creature was dressed in some sort of uniform, but it looked like it wasn’t clothes, more like an extra layer of skin. It didn’t appear to have any teeth, or for that matter, a face. The stairs creaked with every blink, Creak! Crunch! Crack!.

To his amazement, the creature did not emit any sound itself. The only sounds it made were made by e.g. stairs etc. It had a smell almost like sea foam on the beaches of Alicante. The creature was right in front of Robert when he touched it. It looked dry and dusty but it seemed to just become a white powder as soon as it was touched. It didn’t have any internal organs, muscle tissue or bones, nor any vascular system for that matter.

Mrs A. stood at the door with an evil grin on her face. “She’s not hostile, she’ll regenerate after some time. Don’t worry about it though.” exclaimed Mrs. A. She gave a little nod after a moment of silence. He paused, then asked “You say, how did you stumble across her”. She then said after a moment of hesitation, “ You see, I was on my monthly hike in the woods when I just saw her. I instantly fell in love, as it reminded me of my son. I asked her to follow me and we walked back to the shed where I told you not to go. There were a lot of interesting and scary creatures in that forest. I remember once, there was this plague doctor that had a notebook in his hand, constantly writing notes, and I asked him if I could see what he was writing and he handed me his notebook but all there was scribbles.” He was shocked. What was even more shocking is that that 7-foot creature could fit in that 4 foot shed. The creature’s arms were grossly out of proportion, each arm being 6 feet long. She then said “ Don’t you dare tell anyone or they’ll shoot her dead.”

That moonlit night, Robert went to sleep, still confused about that thing he saw. What could it be? He woke up in the middle of the witching hour to a scratching feeling on his head. Well what could you expect less, it was the creature combing Robert’s hair.

It was that twilight that Robert talked to the creature. He asked it “What or who are you?” and after a moment of hesitation, it replied back in quite a high voice, “I’m specimen SCP-3008-2 from the SCP foundation. I broke out, and I used to hang around in the forest with my friend, SCP-049-1, until Mrs A. found me. But you can call me Alexa.”Even though it’s voice was high, it was smooth, the words all seamlessly flowed together. Robert asked if he could touch her ‘skin’ and she agreed. It was dry but soft at the same time.

Over time, they became the bestest of friends, exploring in the garden and playing catch with each other in the summer’s heat. They built bushcraft shelters for each other and had a great time. It was crazy how a normal boy could make friends with an escaped scientific specimen.

Chapter 3

The summer holidays swept by like a rocket. Every day of the holidays, Robert and Alexa played pirates by building forts out of wood and trying to invade the other’s fort. They wandered far and wide, looking for hiding spots in hide and seek. Robert realised that the countryside might just be better than the grimy, towering buildings of the hustling and bustling city. Unlike the city, the countryside was peaceful, quiet and green with lots of things to do. There were splotches of colour in between the trees consisting of Azalea, buttercups, daffodils and lilacs. The warm breeze made the cherry blossom trees dance while the birds chirped a soft melody. These were wonders that Robert had never experienced before.

At twilight, he and Alexa creep out to destroy the other’s fort for the next day. Once in a while, they would climb up the cherry blossom tree and sit up there, glaring at the moon. The nightingales sang, making them sleepy. Once, Robert fell off the tree and they had a good laugh about it.  There would be shooting stars all the time, filling the sky with streaks of light. There would occasionally be an owl with a shrew in its claws and it would drop it off near the start of the forest.

The only thing that worried Robert was someone finding out about Alexa. Or at least capturing her to put back into her 5ftx5ftx5ft steel containment unit with a sign on the door that read: ‘SCP-3008-2-A. OBJECT CLASS : EUCLID. HUMANOID’. During the day, they played inside so that no one could see them. Or sometimes, they would play late in the afternoon with their forts. They would often pick apples and cherries from the garden and grapes from the vineyard. The vines and thorns would often serve as good shelter from the rain on rainy days.

At night, Alexa’s skin turned a darker colour making her speed and weave in between the vineyard with incredible stealth.

Then came that fateful day. Robert heard gunshots. Pop! BANG! PEW! THUD! BOOM!

Alexa layed on the floor, peppered in gunshots. They started slowly healing, way faster than any human wounds but still quite slowly. Robert then saw a figure dressed in black, P90 in his right hand. As it came closer, he could barely distinguish the SCP foundation logo on his bulletproof vest. Under it read: ‘Secure. Contain. Protect.’ Alexa looked at Robert, her eyes now a dark colour, nearly black. Robert looked at her, with a sorrowful look. The SCP foundation Guard came over, Inspected Alexa, and made his way back to his armoured SWAT vehicle through the forest.

Alexa managed to stand up. Robert hissed her to come with him. They sprinted into the garage and stayed there until Robert told her that the guard wasn’t there anymore and that the area was clear. Robert realised that he and Alexa had been out for so long each day that the SCP foundation set up cameras on the trees. Since the guard peppered Alexa in shots, they took the cameras down as they thought that she would not go anywhere. They were wrong. Very wrong. After all that, Mrs A, Mr A. and Robert finally decided to keep Alexa, but only under certain rules which included her not being able to play in the open at day. They decided to renovate the air raid shelter into a luxury bunker so that Alexa would not get bored. They also put a TV so that she could stay entertained. Nothing fancy, only a General Electric Television+.

Nordic Giants

Nordic Giants

Nordic Giants are quite normal, human-sized giants which live in small, traditional red houses on the edge of undiscovered fjords in the Nordic Peninsula.

Can you spot a Nordic Giant?  These 3 things can indicate the presence of one:

  • A very warm, cozy feeling
  • An urge to bathe in the Fjords
  • A small amount of nausea

Male Nordic giants look like vikings with their famous, bull horn helmets and braided beard. Their footsteps are quite loud, ranging from 40dB –  60dB. Their skin is quite rougher and harder and scalier than the female ones.

Female Nordic giants wear their hair in braids and they have softer skin than the males. Their footsteps are much quieter ranging from 10dB – 40dB. They are the ones who interact with humans and the males do the wood-chopping and stocking the fire.

They live in red and white houses on the edge of fjords with the locals and they get on pretty well. They live in a specific set of fjords in Svalbard, Norway. They developed their own communities with the villagers and locals and established a good trading relationship with each other.

They eat starchy foods along with some fruits and vegetables in their diet. Their particular favourite is Svałç, a beetroot soup, garnished with herbs. They are the highest consumers of eggs in the world as well and their favourite drink is herbs blended together with eggs.

They are quite rare as Svalbard has quite a harsh climate for the people who aren’t used to it with -50C winters and up to +67C summers. Their leaders , kings and queens have a pure, Svalbardian Emerald in the middle of their chests.

When the secret isn’t a secret anymore

When the secret isn’t a secret anymore, Contd. Chapter 4

The following day there was a heatwave and they had to put lots of sunscreen on and drink lots of water, so they built a water tank in the backyard which was filled with water and had a tap attached to it. They expanded their forts even more each day, one day it was a small shack, the next day you could call it a full on city. Each day, when Mrs A called them in for lunch, they used to talk about their expansions of their forts and that they won’t reveal certain secrets about how to defeat the other’s fort.

After, they couldn’t wait to get back outside and they would often say that they’re going to the toilet but in reality they were sneaking back to the garden to destroy the bases. When they got back outside, time seemed to speed forward with the night coming faster than ever. They barely even had to wait an hour until the light had become an inky sky.

The next day, instead of playing in the garden like they usually did, they stopped at the garage upon hearing a murmuring sound. They didn’t think much of it but they opened it anyway. It was a secret air raid chamber in which their neighbors were gathered in talking about a supposed ‘Nuclear Attack’. They explained to them that they had to gather food and supplies as they had been threatened of having missiles launched at by enemies. They spotted a few friends of their parents. Robert asked where his parents were and they just gave him the silent treatment with no answer.

All of them snapped at both Robert and Alexa to inform their carers of the upcoming missile strike. They ran and told them the news but they refused to believe them. They insisted that Mrs A and Mr A follow them to the shelter and they were stunned to see that what Robert and Alexa had said was true. They quickly packed all their things and transported them down to the shelter. They transported down a TV as well and the news was all about the missile attack. They began to worry. A lot.

They decided to have one last day outside before the missiles hit. Robert, Alexa, Mrs A and Mr A all went to the forest and talked about what they enjoyed in life and gave each other lots of hugs. They stood under the trees in the cool shade praying for each other and their families far away. They went to church at 7 o’clock in the afternoon and when they returned, it was already quite late. Robert thought if it was a false warning or not, but he didn’t question. He and Alexa found some animal homes and they played around with the animals in them, occasionally the animals biting them.

Now this, well this was 80 years ago. Robert was OK. Sure, the missiles did drop but luckily only 3 of the 4 systems needed to detonate were activated. The only one that wasn’t activated was the fuse. Robert had returned to the city but made regular visits back to the countryside. When he returned to the countryside, Alexa would peep out of a bush and excitedly run towards him filling him with hugs. Robert would smile from ear to ear and even though Alexa didn’t have a face, he could see that she was smiling with him as well. Mrs A and Mr A’s son passed away after getting shot down in his U-2 spy-plane after flying deep into Soviet territory at 100.000 ft at Mach 3.27. He’d switched to the U.S. Air Force (USAF) just before that.

One summer’s evening in the countryside, out of his window I saw a ghost that looked like Alexa. A pen started floating and it wrote on a piece of paper ‘I am not here now, but you will see me in a few years time…’. Robert was confused but went to sleep anyway. The next day, Mrs A had informed me of the devastating news that she’d not seen Alexa for a few hours. She searched up and down everywhere but there were no signs of her. Three years later, Robert, aged 103 passed on. He then met Alexa in the afterlife and their friendship started again.

It’s funny how they were friends, and then they restarted their friendship, but this time not on earth but in the afterlife.

Crazy at the zoo

There’s a vulture with good culture,

A turtle floating in a stew,

An old tortoise climbing volcanoes,

It’s crazy at the zoo!

There’s some igloo dwelling bats,

A tiger stirring up a brew,

A cat sliding down a waterslide,

It’s crazy at the zoo!
