One Step Closer

Liana sat in the empty room, with her hands tied behind her back. The mouth covering was making her face itch. But she couldn’t take it off. She peered around the room, looking for anything that could help her. It was dark. Suddenly, she noticed a tall figure standing in the corner of the room. She leaned closer, and tried to figure out who it was. It stepped one step closer.

It kept moving. One step closer, every few seconds. Liana wrestled the rope that tied her hands, panicking about who it was. She kicked dramatically, and the figure stopped moving. It hesitated, and reached down to grab her hand. It untied her, and walked away. Liana took off her face covering and whispered quietly “Wait..” It turned, and faced her. “Who are you?” she asked curiously.

It crept closer, and revealed itself. It took of a mask to reveal a tall woman, dressed in full black. Liana shuffled further away. The woman slumped down, and sat with Liana. “I want to help you,” the woman explained. “But if you want help, you are going to have to listen very carefully”. Liana nodded her head slowly, still trying to keep her distance. “Follow me,” the woman said. “Wait, I still don’t know who you are, or what’s going on!” Liana exclaimed. “Im Nessie, I work for some people who want to help you get away.” Liana looked confused. “Get away from what, or who?” Nessie sighed. “They want the ring! They want you!”

Closer

Tyler stood still at the window. The raindrops tapping every few seconds. The room was dark and silent. The old, patterned wallpaper, creeped up the walls. The dusty, wooden floorboards creaked and made their noise. He wasn’t alone in the room. He turned away from the window, as a cold chill fell down his spine. He gulped, and then he saw him. He saw Freddie.

Tyler backed away, slowly and quietly. Freddie stepped close. Closer than he was before. Tyler fell to the chair behind him, Freddie still moving. Closer, closer. He smiled, and held out his hand.

“Hello old friend”.

Sinister Truth

Inside the old, wooden house, Olivia sat still and silent. She stared at the fire in the fireplace, with there eyes wide open: bulging, as the flames reflected in her pupils. Her once blue, oceanic eyes were not orange and fiery. She suddenly felt violent and angry, but wasn’t quite sure why. Then she felt a cold, thin hand on her shoulder.

“Hello mother.” She said, without even turning, keeping her eyes fixed on the flame.

“Hello my darling, whatever is the matter?” Her mother replied, in a low, guilty voice.

“Nothing, simply nothing”.

Seasonal Haiku by Mica

The hot smell of turkey,
Lingers in the atmosphere.
The scent, of chicken gravy.

Summer plants,
With watered petals,
Glistens in the sunlight.

Bonfire boom,
The golden leafs crunch,
Pumpkins, stare back at me.

Grasshoppers bounce,
Flowers start to bloom.
Spring, the jumping delight.

The Bicycle

The bicycle,
Is aged and decayed.
Sitting against the withered, old oak tree.

The handlebars,
Stick out like an elephants tusks.
Old, but strong.

The wheels,
Can barely spin.
Moss covered rubber.

The pedals,
Spin back with the
Gentle breeze of the wind.

The bell,
Sits impatiently,
Waiting to be ticked once more.

The cogs,
Stiff and still,
Listening for even a sound.

The Bicycle

The bicycle is,
Aged and decayed,
Leaning on the withered oak tree.

The handlebars,
Stick out like,
An elephants great tusks.

The wheels,
Can barley spin.
Moss covered rubber.

The pedals,
Spin back with the
Gentle breeze of the wind.

The bell,
Sits impatiently waiting
To be ticked.

The cogs,
Still and still.
Waiting for even one sound.

You Are Poem

You are like a fresh summer’s breeze,
Brushing against my face.

You are a blanket of snow,
Covering the earth’s green grass.

You are a beautiful autumn leaf,
Waiting to be crunched and crackled.

You are my reflection in a mirror,
Showing me my rights and wrongs.

Your are a feather,
Drifting around in the sky.

You are a violet,
As blue as the vast ocean.

You are a Saturday morning,
Lazy, quiet and still.

You are the taste of sweet apple cider,
On a hot summer’s day.

You are the memory,
Of the sand in between my toes.

You are the sight,
Of green rolling hills.
