The Noun Emporium

In the room of books,

I flipped the pages like I was touching a butterfly’s wings.

In the room of tiredness,

I lied lazily on the bored bed

and the blanket floated to my sleepy body.

In the room of balls,

basketballs flipped furiously into my raging face.

In the room of success,

whenever a medal was presented, a cheer was heard

and losers groaned.

In the room of bells,

My speech came out as chimes.

In the room of wealth,

money was as thin as staples

and my hands turned into diamonds.

In My Dreams

My tiredness is made from-

an energetic little brother, waking you up on a rainy weekend,

a pillow dozing off into dreamworld,

the pages left of your homework book, demanding you to finish every single page,

a boring day with nothing to do,

and the comfy duvet with me already in it.

I found it-

laying in the pages of my favourite fictional fantasy story book,

relaxing on a deckchair with a masseuse giving you a satisfying massage,

Reading a whole dictionary,

Dancing slowly to the waltz,

Where ponies prance around with cuddly bunnies on their backs.

This tiredness can-

Bore the energetic,

Turn the active athletes into fat frogs,

wheeze out breath from busy business people,

silence the homeless’ pleads

in an uncomfortable cage,

and let out contagious yawns,

till it is a speck of dust,

travelling the world.

If I had lost this tiredness-

even the poor would sparkle…

Simile Smiles

The moon is

like a glistening, silver football,

as bright as LED light glowing in my bedroom.

A tree is

as crooked as a witch’s twig-like finger,

like a mimic octopus’ tentacles swaying.

The moon is

as shiny as a gold medal,

like a spotlight shining happily.

The Mediterranean Sea is

like a cornflower coloured sapphire,

as clear as a newly washed window.

The moon is

as sneaky as the suspicious smile of a Cheshire Cat watching Alice in her crazy dreams,

like a banana in the galactic cities.

In the land of Hidden Treasures…

I met a girl called Autumn,

She had fingernails of red, autumn leaves falling and crunching.

Her eyes dripped dramatically like slow rain and wind blew away,

whistling as she spoke.

I met a doctor of Pain,

poking pins and needles into people’s legs making them feel weak.

He makes people scream and shout,

squeezing blood out of their bodies.

I met a woman called Flamingo,

She walked fabulously like she was on a ******* on her twig legs.

Her long, luxurious neck leaned forwards and touched the ground with her beak.

I met a man called Rabbit,

He nibbled a cunning carrot like Bugs Bunny,

hopping hilariously like an African kangaroo.

I met a woman called Labrador,

with colourful eyes spinning hyptnotisingly.

When he spoke, he barked with a rough voice.

Hidden Treasures

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I found a funky fridge flipping in a fish tank.

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I saw a rat swimming like a lazy lifeguard.

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I watched a lion licking it’s lips waiting for me to come closer…

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I touched a sabre toothed cat, staring at the mighty woolly mammoth.

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I felt a creepy zombie touching my shoulder.

In the land of Hidden Treasures, I heard a superhero singing, “Duh Duh Duuh!”

In the land of  Hidden Treasures, I sang a little bird song like a tiny kingfisher, sitting near the riverbank.

In the land of  Hidden Treasures, I captured an ice breathing monster on top of  Mount Everest.

I have never, but I have

I have never been an gymnast at the Olympics,

but I have been to gymnastic class at Bolton Arena.

I have never had a pet,

but I have stroked my friend’s cat.

I have never jumped off the top of Burj Khalifa like a skydiver,

but I have been to the top of Burj Khalifa.

I’ve never been to space,

but I have been to Dubai and seen some of the planets.
