The African Water Dragon by Ruth

Winona isn’t just your old water-ski dragon, the most common, but she is an African water dragon, an extremely rare type of dragon. She guards most rainforests, including the Amazon, but she originated in Africa. She occasionally visits more common water dragons, as they are her friends, but she never sees her mother and father because they were killed by the Asian Fire dragons. Her scales are as dark as the night sky, so she can blend into deep, murky, muddy water. Her eyes shine out at you, if you dare to go looking for her; they are bright yellow, you can’t help gazing into those menacing eyes. People say that she is bound to have some magical power that makes humans want to ride her, as adventurers looking for her disappear, but if you touch any water dragon, you become water. In the breeze, her wings beat up and down, gazing at the many forests from overhead, watching for any other potentially dangerous dragons. Claws glint in the light, by moonlight, normally, and rip at you until you decide to touch her, Winona is very secretive, happy with humans not knowing what she looks like

Tulip and the monster by Ruth

It was twilight. Tulip crept down the stairs, skipping the last one incase it creaked. Carefully, she opened the side door, allowing a blast of cold air into the building. Donald the dog crouched against her legs, begging to be allowed out. Silently closing the door behind her, Donald ran past her into the night. Calling out, she found her dog deep in the forest, where mist lay. Snap! Something stepped on a twig behind her. Heart thumping, Tulip turned. Nothing. Silence. Then,“Hello Tulip, my dearessst friend.” Tulip ran. She knew that Donald and the creature were following her through the darkness. Thump. Donald’s heavy body had fallen. Hesitantly, Tulip spoke,“Who are you and what have you done to my dog?” Without warning, Donald jumped up at her, pushing her out of the mist. They ran together. Reaching the edge of the forest, they slowed to a stop. Taking deep breaths, they began the journey back to their house.

The runaway girl setting description by Ruth

Violet took a moment to look around at the room, she didn’t realise what it looked like when she first came. On the ceiling, there was a couple spiders hanging from the dusty cobwebs. In the corner, there was a big pile of something covered in a blanket. She ran over, not only because of the blanket, but also she was curious, being the adventurous child she was, and wanted to know what was under the sheet. As soon as she took it of, she immediately knew why it was covered. A whole mountain of spiders came pouring down on top of her then scuttled away. She turned around, expecting to see nothing but the blanket lying on the ground, but found a small pile of what looked like presents. Her immediate reaction was to back away and leave the peculiar room and find another, warmer place huddle under the blanket in

The runaway girl by Ruth

Outside, the autumn leaves swirled through the air, hitting people in the face. Indoors, the many candles flickered in the light breeze flowing through the ancient building. Violet tightened her thin, purple raincoat, as she shifted the bags and boxes, she had to find something, anything, to keep her warm in the creepy, abandoned shack. She had left home without a word, it had seemed hours since then, friends, family, warmth, and now it seemed like she was the most useless person ever…
